• Chinese influence will be reduced much and the relations between the export markets like USA, EU, Japan and India will be strengthened too (more balanced policy).
• Freedom of media will be restored unlike the present.
• There will be no more violence in the name of religion or race as the majority vote of minorities are already with the opposition due to the past events.
• Therefore, these days both the parties are trying to grab the majority Sinhalese votes(crucial point).

Sri Lanka is a small but proud, successful and prosperous nation. It shall never become a colony of another state, no matter what. If some country confuses SL with the Phillipines, they are making a big mistake.

okkk..then perhaps you can start a dedicated thread on election of Sri Lanka so that we can follow the news update easily..I personally don't like MR as he acts like a dictator.Media Freedom got curtailed,War Crimes and his role during Civil war marred the image of Sri Lanka.he made a traitor out of Fonseka and during his tenure,relationship with India and west deteriorated.but then,its just my point of view.

Would agree with you on most parts except the last one.. His regime has been exceptional in balancing the diplomatic front, Especially when it came to regional and Asian solidarity.. Indo/Lanka relationship has been robust as ever,And strongest it had ever been, Contrary to what one eyed TN based Media or self proclaimed analysts say.. The UPA had major issues in having a weak center and a usual highly attritional TN polity on sovereignty of SL.. So they had to make some hard choices.. But after NDA won the center the relationship have gotten stronger..

As far a the West goes it's all to do with making the right noises for their domestic political compulsions.. The US has ulterior motives vis a vis growing Chinese influence in the region, It's their own fault post Republicans they have had a foreign policy based on pseudo Human rights and using HR INGO's as regime changing weapons.. Especially under Hillary Clintons leadership in the state dept.. The US security establishment has a different view, they have a very robust relationship with SL

As for the other two so called West (Canada and UK) they are just baying for thier very influential SL Tamil diaspora vote blocks.. Often hijacked by LTTE separatists.. So the term West is misconstrued.. Australian/Lanka relation ship have gotten stronger.. Both Australia and New Zealand have stood with SL at the UNHRC.. Japan is still very much a strong partner in development, So is the Netherlands, Germany, Czech republic

So that West was basically the US,UK, Norway and Canada

I had seen such a news about warnings of Opposition parties of SL in our news papers ,a few years ago.Well I think they are right.Money lenders with cut throat interest would always like to lend some money to others.But their main aim would be entire property of borrower.
Allies who trusted US blindly realised it in a pain ful way.Be careful about China.
You should keep your relations more balancily with others including India,US,China etc.

BS. In SL there is more than enough media freedom. Foreign Media just lie. If you don't trust me google for some newspapers in Sri Lanka. You'll see.

You are underestimating your capability.SL is in a strategic location .You can influence West through India.Small nations should always play a balance foreign policy and stay away from Herculean hug of Big nations.Chinese are spending much for your nation not because of their generosity but they need to take advantage of you strategic locationin Indian Ocean for thrir trade interests.
But if you dont counteted it now they will establish a base in your soil in future it would be likevJapan US situation.
