Sri Lanka does a Maldives, raises excise on Indian vehicles by 73%

Well its a direct breach of contract and Singapore court ruled in favor of GMR.. Seems like some people have no idea what a contract meant for after all..

GMR case: Singapore court rules in favour of Maldives

"The Maldives government has the power to do what it wants, including expropriating the airport," Sundaresh Menon, the Chief Justice of Singapore, said in court.

But your products do have market here in India..How come it will boomerang us?? by increasing the excise duty again??

Sri Lanka as a country needs India and Indian markets than India needs Sri Lanka!!

Our main export partners are US and EU, we are exporting very less products to India but India's export share on Sri Lanka is higher so any act will effect to India than Sri Lanka.

. . .
The Indians seem to be such whiny bitches these days. Quite unfortunate.

There is a bogeyman around every corner it seems.

Either its the Pakistanis. Or the Bangladeshis. Or the Maldivians. Or the Nepalis. Or the Chinese. Or the Muslims. Or the USA. Or the Sri Lankans.

Srilankans and their stinky mouth . Pathetic :fie:

Sri Lanka doesn't have bigger market share in Indian market, what ever act will only boomerang back to India.

Yes we know SL products don't have much market share but still SL exported around $418 million worth products to India in 2008 n India also recently further opened its textile market for SL n we r ur only neighbour out there so its not gonna be much happy go lucky situation for SL either if relations with India deteriorate any further...:D

.
Yea we always have Bangladeshis as Guinea Pig.. After all their govt is working as our Dalal!! :toast_sign:

U should do some research. We don't buy Indian cars. U use your own people as guinea pigs.

P.S : But I do respect the patriotism Indians have towards buying their own products.

. .
India cannot be trusted .....sooner or later they will turn against you like they did on tamils...its ok to stab india in the back first just make sure you dont get hacked to death in return :D .

I can't believe U guys were using such garbage junk. Apart from India, tata fatas won't have any market elsewhere except for may be buthan.
'Garbage junk'? Why are uneducated silly lemmings allowed to post on this website? For your info:

The automotive industry in India is one of the largest in the world and one of the fastest growing globally. India's passenger car and commercial vehicle manufacturing industry is the sixth largest in the world, with an annual production of more than 3.9 million units in 2011.

India overtook Brazil and became the sixth largest passenger vehicle producer in the world (beating such old and new auto makers as Belgium, United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Russia, Spain, France, Brazil), growing 16 to 18 per cent to sell around three million units in the course of 2011-12.

Srilanka can go buy from Timbuktu for all we care. Too small a market, you guys don't even count in the scheme of things.

Good job lankans. I can't believe U guys were using such garbage junk. In BD Indians have been trying very hard with the help of spineless gov to get their Tata fatas into BD market with no luck so far. Apart from India, tata fatas won't have any market elsewhere except for may be buthan.

Allow japanese and korean cars. Their recondition cars are also world class. Ask for investment in setting up plants and avoid unsafe Indian products.

Better than 2nd hand stuff you folks use.

seriously $1 billion in 2011? nope, it's something around $ 300 million.

Then why is your media whining and why is your tata begging to enter BD market. Btw even under very suitable conditions with respect imported reconditioned vehicles, your tata fata can't make themselves count in BD's tiny market.

I have corrected that but its around $800 million for 2012 which means it has doubled since 2008 n SL imports more than 22% of its total imports from India...:D
