We are involving between China and India matters when we ask China to Sri Lanka and invest in things. Specially strategic things like H'tota harbor. Therefore it is natural that India feels threatened. So they could use their war-machine if they think it is necessary enough. That is why we have to choose our step carefully or else we will be in big trouble. I don't think then China will come to rescue us. Or worst of all our country will become the battlefield for both of these giants.
The same thing happened in 80s when JRJ government went cosing up with US too much. Therefore we should not threaten India unless we have the necessary military and economical setup.
I can't agree with that. Chinese investments in SL and India vs China military related stuff are two different things. Hambantota first offered to US then India but they were not interested then went to China, so If India thinks now it's security threat to them they could have involve in the first stage of the project before we signed China. This project wasn't a secret it has a long history.
Secondly India's fear about when SL deals with China can not understand. we don't have land borders with India but India share land borders with China, so actually threat at the Northern areas of India but not the southern part. What I have seen Chinese are trying to secure their supply route. If actually China needs to de-stabilize India they can do that easily Indians are too sensitive to religious and ethnic issues, also there are some terror groups etc.
We have the right to do it and India has the right to stop it if they can.
SL just refueled the warships in 1971, India created a civil war for 30 years! We are waiting!
And why would we don't want sl develop the only country which i think we really dont want see develop is pakistan (just my opinion) yes some mistakes have been made.but that does't mean we are want to harm you
If we wanted to do that we would have insured that LTTE won the war & seeing the size of our country we are well capable of that(no offence).
It's all in economy and strategy. More weaker your neighbor is less trouble you have.
India didn't want LTTE to win nor it wanted LTTE to lose like 2009. India wanted SL ethnic problem to end in a stalemate so no side gain the upper hand. That way India could have easily manipulated SL according to Indian interests.

A developed & a friendly SL offfers us
1. Market for our goods
2. Good name for south asia
3. Can supply us with human resources
4. Possible millitary base
5. Potential market for millitary products
A undeveloped SL offers us
1. Bad name for souuth asia
2. Massive influx of uneducated people
3. No market for our goods
4. No potential millitary base
2nd
If we wanted that we would have supplied both sides on the same time & issued a naval blockade so that no big player could step in
& stop the war.LTTE was becoming a meance so we pestControoled it

1) Develop or Undevelop the market is their. India can get more money if SL is undeveloped, because then SL people will only buy cheap Indian stuff. Do you think if Sri Lankans have more money they would buy Indian stuff?
2) What does having a good name for South Asia will give India? South Asia is still considered the Nuclear melting pot. That even without SL going out of control.
3) Human resource? What human resource? India has more unemployed people than the entire population of Sri Lanka. So do you think India care about SL human resource?
4) That was what India will get if Sri Lanka is undeveloped. More manipulating power to suite Indian needs.
5) Sri Lankan military market is small or non-extent without a war. Sri Lanka don't have a foreign enemy. Therefore India could only have sold weapons to SL if we continued the civil war.
Indian naval blockade to do what? Stop ships from coming to Colombo? How can India ever say they destroyed LTTE because they could have use IN to blockade? what a hilarius comment.

1) so you mean market will still be there so that means market of somalia & south korea is the same wait south korea is small than somalia so it means it is a small market.man there is something called purchasing power a developed SL will be huge market for indian goods rather than an undevloped SL
2) it will give a good name becauz it has the potential of becoming first fully developed nation in south asia
3) yes we have large human resource pool but a developed SL can supply us with quality human resource mainly scientist
4) we can also get that if it is a developed country
5) yeah but as you said MARKET IS THERE
A naval blockade to isolate you from the world then carpet bomb the LTTE or which ever side we want to win
& i am not denying that we did help the LTTE but after we supported you . Humans make mistakes[/B]

India is not insecure about Srilanka which is equal to two or three Districts in India. India do not want Srilanka to become another Cuba like situation.
Srilanka is a very small country and the market is also small, You people are yet to make some products let alone surpassing India.
All India doing is denying China the leverage it wants to encircle India. Srilanka is one Island in vast IOR.
