Whether you accept it or not, that is not the way it is happening and is not going to be. Instead improve security conditions and others will come to play.

It is not just India that is not willing to come to Pakistan, remember West Indies, Australia, England and I guess it is almost a year that no country has come to Pakistan to play cricket. So there is no point in singling out India.

Even before Mumbai attack happened, India didn't send its junior hockey team because of security conditions, how do you think that GoI will send Indian cricket team. Forget about it.

You are forgetting an incident where there was a blast inside or outside of the hotel where the New zealand players were staying. Now that there are increased number of such incidents, people are obviously scared and not willing to tour Pakistan.

No my friend,West indies wanted to tour Pakistan for the Champions trophy in fact Chris gayle said that Pakistan is one of my fav place to play in.Australia,England showed their concern abt the security situation bcoz their soldiers are fighting the WOT therefore they didn't want to risk playing over here. The security situation is not as worse as is shown internationally.Srilanka confirmed Pakistan tour and i m sure this ample proof of the conducive conditions here for playing cricket.India refused to play bcoz of the Mumbai incident.it was GOI that canceled the tour not the Indian cricket board.

I think you need to look at it like this.

With Pakistan, there's not so much influence in world cricket as India. Again, India just has numbers on its side. Those numbers mean more money lost.

Money talks in cricket. It's a business. If nations tour India and not Pakistan, it's simply because they stand to lose moe by not touring India.

Pakistan needs to be the best team in the world. Then teams will come over to play.

And if they don't, blah, it's only a game.

Sri Lanka want two ODIs instead of T20 game
Tuesday, December 23, 2008
By our correspondent

KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reworked the itinerary for the home series against Sri Lanka, adding two One-day Internationals to it in place of a twenty20 game.

Saleem Altaf, the PCB chief operating officer, said on Monday that the Sri Lankans will arrive in Pakistan on January 19 immediately after their tour of Bangladesh and will play three Tests and five ODIs here subject to the approval of the new itinerary.

Altaf, a former Pakistan Test pacer, said that the tentative itinerary for the series was revised on the request of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). “We received an email today from Sri Lanka, requesting us to delete the twenty20 game and instead add two one-dayers in the itinerary for the series,” said Altaf. “The PCB official decided with mutual consent to accept the request,” he said.

Altaf said that the PCB has sent the revised schedule to SLC. Pakistan were initially planning to hosts Sri Lanka for three Tests, three one-dayers and a twenty20 game. Karachi was to open the series with the twenty game, followed the first game of the ODI series here. Lahore was to host the next two one-dayers and the opening Test, followed by the last two Tests in Multan and Karachi.

It is expected now that the two added ODIs will be played in Multan and Faisalabad. The PCB is hurriedly preparing for the series against Sri Lanka that was lined up after Indian cancelled their tour of Pakistan over last month’s terror attacks in Mumbai. The Indians were supposed to play three Tests, five one-dayers and a twenty20 game during January-February.

The Sri Lankan government has dissolved the board that it set up to oversee cricket in the country.

A government official will run the day-to-day affairs of the national game until a new management committee can be appointed.

Explaining the decision, the Sports Minister, Gamini Lokuge told the media that the head of the outgoing board, the former Sri Lankan captain, Arjuna Ranatunga had a poor relationship both with country's players and with the staff of his own board.

Mr. Ranatunga, a parliamentarian representing the ruling coalition was appointed as the head of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on 01 January this year.

'Part of mafia'

The World Cup winning captain earlier told BBC Sandeshaya (Sinhala service) that “a cricket mafia” has been hampering his work since he took over the office.

But the minister told the BBC that Mr. Ranatunga was “part of the so-called cricket mafia”.

Who is this mafia? Thilanga Sumathipala, Jayantha Dharmadasa and so on. Arjuna was part of this mafia and his brother Dammika Ranatunga even served under Mr. Sumathipla

“Who is this mafia? Thilanga Sumathipala, Jayantha Dharmadasa and so on. Arjuna was part of this mafia and his brother Dammika Ranatunga even served under Mr. Sumathipla,” Minister Lokuge told BBCSinhala.com.

The BBC could not get a responce from those accused of being part of the "cricket mafia".

It was the first time a world cup winning captain was appointed as the head of the cricket board in any Test playing country.

Mr. Lokuge who initially said he would call for elections for the SLC, did not confirm whether he would call for elections or appoint another Interim Council.

India has good inside influence in Sri Lanka, even though Pakistan has good relations. I will not be surprised.

Sri Lanka to reconsider Pakistan tour

Sri Lanka's tour of Pakistan, the replacement for India's cancelled visit early next year, is in doubt after Sri Lanka's sports minister Gamini Lokuge said he would hold discussions with the country's president Mahinda Rajapaksa and wait for word from the foreign ministry regarding the issue.

"We are reconsidering the decisions taken by Arjuna Ranatunga," Lokuge told PTI. Ranatunga, who was the head of Sri Lanka Cricket, was removed from office yesterday by Lokuge, who also dissolved the interim administration of SLC. Ranatunga had earlier said that Sri Lanka would not hesitate to send a team to Pakistan and expressed confidence in their ability to provide adequate security.

Saleem Altaf, the PCB's chief operating officer, had said that Ranatunga had replied affirmatively to their invitation and that the board was working out the final details of the series. Altaf had said that Sri Lanka would play three Tests, three one-dayers and a Twenty20 game against Pakistan.

Sri Lanka were lined up to tour Pakistan after the BCCI called off India's tour following a directive from the Indian government that it was not feasible "in the prevailing circumstances". The series was in doubt following deterioration of relations between the two countries, a fallout of the Mumbai attacks which India alleges had links to elements in Pakistan.

This is just plain horrible on the part of India. I hope SL remembers that other countries have done the same to SL in the past and Pakistan stood by it through its hour of need.

Spiteful, and silly of India. They do have influence in world cricket, using that to "embargo" Pakistan shows the true colours of the people in charge.

It's just a game anyway.

Pakistan should play away games, boycott some teams, and beat everyone in their backyards. That would be number 1.

It doesn't matter if Pakistan doesn't get to play any cricket. South Africa was embargoed for 20 years and they came out a very strong team.

South Africa under the rules of the day, its cricket board had to leave the International Cricket Conference (ICC). (1970-91)

Its different for Pakistan now. May be from 2008 - ????
