Western powers are making major mistakes in its dealings with Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka, China had found a vital ally. Sri Lanka will become an important point in the future East- West power struggles.

The major mistake that the Western world committed was to allow the vicious Tamil Diaspora to infiltrate into the Western societies. Furthermore, many Western European politicians fell for the innumerable wealth of Tamil Diaspora thus endangering the proper interests of these respective countries.

The Western leverage against Sri Lanka is at minimum with the great backing China is providing Sri Lanka.

The Chinese support to Sri Lanka comes both in international, economic and military aspects.

Internationally, China is backing Sri Lanka at United Nations at all costs.

Economically, Chinese injects necessary financial resources to keep the Sri Lankan economy running & Finally, Chinese military support to Sri Lanka is well known.

In the international relations context, China will need an Israel type ally in South Asia & Sri Lanka is a perfect candidate!

Sri Lanka will become a powerful state/ally of China.

Is there a way out of this to the West? Yes! The model solution for this state of affairs is to engage Sri Lanka in a meaningful and pragmatic mode. Unless Western countries take long-term policy resolutions rather than heeding to extremist Diaspora weight, the Western interests in Sri Lanka and South Asia are bound to be endangered.

China to build second port in Sri Lanka

First, it was Hambantota port in south Sri Lanka which went to the Chinese. Now, an ambitious programme to develop Colombo port has been given to another Chinese consortium.

The Sri Lankan cabinet recently decided to award the contract to build a new deep-water container terminal in Colombo port to a consortium consisting of China Merchant Holdings International and Aitken Spence. According to reports from the island nation, the terminal will be built by the same company that built the Hambantota port complex -- China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) and Sino Hydro Corporation.

China to expand Hambantota Port

China Communications Construction Company has been given an $810 million contract to build the second phase of Sri Lanka's Hambantota new port, the ports authority said on Monday.

Hambantota, which opened in November, is set to be Sri Lanka's biggest port once completed and give the Indian Ocean country access to traffic on one of the world's biggest East-West shipping lanes, located a few kilometres off its southern coast.

The first phase of the port was built by the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), a China Communications Construction Company subsidiary, backed by a $425 million Chinese loan.

"China Harbour is doing the next phase of the project which worth $810 million," Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Priyath Wickrama told Reuters. "We have started designing and most probably we will start physical work in the next couple of week."

On Friday, Sri Lanka said it plans to open a $130 million fuel bunkering terminal with a capacity of 82,000 metric tonnes at Hambantota in May.

Hambantota is one of four ports being built or upgraded under President Mahinda Rajapaksa's plan to rejuvenate Sri Lanka's $42 billion economy by returning it to its old and lucrative role as a trading hub.

According to Chin's official in US, he called Pakistan as China's Israel in South Asia, about Sri Lanka i heard first time or it is your adding?
All circumstances fit on Pakistan to prove that it is China's Israel.
I am not recommending Sri Lanka to be a Israel because you don't know how difficulties you will face or oppositions you may face.
