In my opinion,Maulana is a good candidate for President. As far Jamiat i Ulema i Hind is concerned, it worked for the freedom of India. Before that, the Ulema took part in the 1857 uprising. They just had a difference of opinion with Jinnah. They thought Muslims could have a better deal in a United India. A deal for all the Muslims in India, not just 1/3rd.
