This is just a small sample of a journey that began with one of the earliest civilizations on earth at Harrapa/Mohenjo Daro/Indus contemperory to Nile, Egypt, Tigri/Euphrats Mesopotomia over 8,000 years ago all the way to the present day Pakistsan. You don't see this with all the news about bombing, terrorism and the rest.
These Churches look awesome! Great shares.

I am okay thanks, hope your in fine fettle ! I love 'Atilla the Hun' sounds cool, I love military related stuff so forts are my favourites. Pakistan has lots. they are everywhere with all the invaders coming in the land never saw peace. So I guess everybody was busy building forts at strategic locations but still that has left great legacy. THe designs change from the deserts in the south to mountains in the north.

These Churches look awesome! Great shares.
Yes, the British built lots of churches and we have these in almost all major towns.

Just around the corner is Trango Towers. Man cannot compete with nature. Over mile of straight faced vertical rock reaching for the sky. No place like this on earth. It defines the word spectactular !

Fascinating Persian Mosque Ceilings: A Manifestation of Islamic Architecture

Nasir-Al-Mulk-Mosque-Shiraz.jpg

Mosques throughout the Muslim world have some of the most exquisite and delicate architecture ever created by mankind.

There’s too much astonishing architecture in them to cover in just one post, so we decided to focus merely on the mosque’s ceilings in Iran

The images below show just how heavily mathematics and geometry featured into Islamic architecture in Iran.

Iran is known for its amazing collection of stunning mosques with beautiful mosaics and stained glass framed by powerful architecture.

The architecture of mosques in Iran differs from one region to another depending on culture, heritage and the resources available. Each mosque has diverse styles of tile work, unique color systems and symbolic patterns; however, there are a few common elements common to most of them.

The art of tile working in Iran blossomed in the Islamic era. The wonderful tile work features beautiful colors, floral displays and calligraphy. The calligraphy is linked to geometry as the proportions of the letters are all governed by mathematics.

More Ortakoy Mosque, Istanbul.
Absolute treat to the eyes. Stunning. And the background just adds to the whole effect on the eyes. Interior is amazing and in good condition. Lots of the old structures in Pakistan are badly damaged pointing to wars, invaders and instability. In addition there has ben problem with people looting and smuggling antiquities including even damaging some structures in quest to gran pieces to sell. These often end up in rich collectors hands. However there is no shortage of forts. Small, large to world's larghest. Some of them are on UNESCO heritage sites list.

This one is on a strategic feature near a River Jhelum. Every invader from the west had to cross the river in this area (including Alexander the great who fought a battle of Hydaspes against Porus) therefore the rationale behind the fort.

This map gives you scale . Miles of the exterior structures and various entrance gates. The fort had it's own water supply and large force was permanently stationed there.
