Absolutely! If Taliban have come back to power after 20 years, it has to accepted they are a reality and foreign powers will have to deal with them. If they are adamant not to deal with them, it will create more problems.

The excuses West put forth or conditions are just rubbish. It shows their double standards. They can launch ISIS in Syria and Iraq, they can deal with Saudis and sell them weapons. But they cant deal with Taliban because of women's rights. This is the most shallow argument they could present.

The regional powers must engage with them and encourage them. The sanctions on Taliban must be revoked. It was America that negotiated with them for safe passage not Ashraf Ghani. So it cant be they were legitimate then and not legitimate now.

Still wonder whats going on in PM's mind while showing his desire for "Peace Negotiations" with TTP? Probably the most respected General of Pak Army Mr.Tariq Khan once said in the interview that TTP was the bunch of criminals who turned from daily wagers of streets into criminal gangs challenging the writ of the government and all it's structure. Really? APS attack on 16th December still bleeds inside me. There was the reason those thugs used this particular date. I thought that TTP will never ever achieve that importance that one day our Govt will require to have peace talks with them AGAIN...!!! Goodness me.

Anyways, it has been only a few weeks since Taliban takeover. The dust is still settling. There is no hurry since Taliban are still doing a little bit of clean up, and other stuff. But Pakistan and other countries will recognise the Taliban in the near future. When this happens, China will pour billions into A-Stan and extend CPEC. It will be a good real estate buying opportunity in A-Stan in the next 3 to 5 years. Good thing will be that India will be KEPT OUT and won't be allowed back in A-Stan for a real long time.

Back on topic, narratives can only do so much. Substantive policies always win over mere narratives in the long run, as fact that escapes PMIK, and all his fanbots here.

Policy has been made clear in Parliament and in various interviews and articles by IK in US newspapers - no support for US in any wars.

All the US threats of scapegoat sanctions and whatnot are for air base and/or air corridor and to step away from CPEC. Pakistan's policy on these two are crystal clear. No more. Pakistan was sanctioned after Afghan Jihad and such actions is expected again .. might as well humiliate a declining superpower in the process.

Before IK was in power, it was Pak Army who said that they could shoot down US drones if given the go ahead by Government.

As you say, states do what is their best interest. This blunt humiliation of USA is in Pakistan's best interest as not doing so would still result in sanctions (unless air base/corridor are provided and Pakistan exits from CPEC).
