Sony has announced a new compact camera recently and its focused towards providing outrageous amounts of zoom. The new Cyber-shot HX350 is capable of up to 50x optical zoom with its new lens.
On the front is a 24-1200mm ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens in 35mm format. Alongside the optical, it can also allow up to 100x Clear Image Zoom. It supports ISO range of 80-3200 and an aperture range between f/2.8-6.3. Continuous shooting mode allows shooting of up to 10 frames per second.
The Cyber-shot HX350 uses an EXMOR R sensor, and comes with BIONZ X image processor. Focus can be set on the Direct Manual Focus mode or just on the Lock-on Auto Focus. There’s Intelligent Active Mode, while Optical SteadyShot allows for less blur in photos and videos through image stabilisation. The resolution stands at 20.4 MP.
On the back, you’ll get a mobile 7.5cm (3.0-inch) LCD which comes with 921k dot resolution. A built-in pop up flash can be used for low-light conditions, while the video Recording options can be maxed up to 1080p at 60 frames per second. Connectivity is done via micro-HDMI and USB 2.0, while battery life lasts up to 310 shots.
The mid-range camera sits in the market somewhere around your run-of-the-mill compact shooters and below traditional DSLRs, though it is styled to look a lot like the latter. There is a ring on the top to allow quick-changing of modes as the user sees fit.
The Cyber-shot HX350 is priced at 450 Euros and will be available come January.
