Some results for PLAAF-PAF Shahee exercise

Regarding the J-8 vs. Mirage 5 situation. We would have to know the circumstances of the engagement to make any sort of inferences right? For all we know the J-8 may have picked off the Mirages who were in a ground attack scenario.

Yup that is where I was going with that. Mirage Vs don't have a radar but are optimized for ground attack. It is quite possible they were taken out by J-8 acting as interceptors.
However, this still does not take away from the fact that the Mirage will face similar circumstances when going against IAF. Their age has come and gone and PAF needs to, and is, taking them out of service as more JF-17s come of the production line.

"Chinese Su-27" is a vague word because there are four kinds of Chinese Su-27 series, Su-27SK/J-11A,Su-30MK/MK2,J-11B/J-15A,J-16.

No detailed explanation from the video

What we can learn from the exercise results are:1. there are indeed big gap between 2nd generation fighters and 3rd generation fighters thus JF-17 can easily defeat J-8DH/F
2. The French fighters are boasted too much by the west. In the same generation combat, two Mirage V can not even match 1 J-8DH/F. Thus we can confer that there may be plentiful of brag about Mirage 2000 and Rafale.
Mirage 5 is radar less fighter for Ground Attack role. This is not right or incorrect reporting.

.
The exercise involved PLAAF SU-27/J-11 against the Mirage Vs, which basically doesn't even have a radar and is dedicated for ground strike missions.

But in the video, it clearly said that Mirage 5 had better radar compared to J-8DH/F. It does not mention anything about Su-27/J-11 because our leading character is a J-8 pilot

No my friend, only Mirage 3 have this capability as they are meant for fighter/interceptor roles, PAF Mirage 5 are either ground attack or Maritime strike machines .

I think making conclusions based on a news report is highly speculative at the best, and is far from reality. PLAAF is good but it has a long way to go and a lot to learn before it reaches the skill levels of US/Nato and even PAF. There is a reason why Israeli, Pakistani and US pilots are considered highly skilled.

May be not full war games type exercise, just Aircraft capability tests and awareness of threats associated with, for Pak Pilots, keeping in mind India has similar type of A/C.

RE: The mirage is battle proven plane.. be it with Israeli airforce South African or PAF.

PAF mirages III have been credited with 9 IAF Indian kills in 1971.. and Mirage V has been in service since 1977 with PAF.

Referring to 1971, means you are comparing today's fighters, with up to speed upgrades, such as the SU-27 and J-11, with almost a 4.5 decade old platform. Mirages in the 60's were similar to what F-16 was in the 80's and the 90's. I don't even understand why would a Mirage-V face off the SU-27 / J-11 to begin with?

I know the PAF likes exercises with DACT, but the tech capability is light and day between the two platforms here.

In another report, two JF17 were shot down by one J11B

I don't know if these are really "shot down". I think the right term would be locked on and disengaged or simulated kills to be precise. There is a lot a fighter jet can do now a days before he or she is really "shot down". Incoming missiles can be confused and the jet can escape with electronics and CM's.

People should learn to use brains and get the information under the paper

China use J8 to excercise with PAF, PLAAF's main conterpart is USAF, Will china use J8 against USAF? China will gain nothing from this excercise against JF17 and old mirage.

But why china still use J8?
Just Think about the mainstream fighters of IAF, you will get who will gain and what will gain?
