The Harappan archaeological site in Pakistan is located in Punjab province of Pakistan. Far away from the site indians claim to have excavated.

The Indus Valley Civilization (also known as Harappan culture) has its earliest roots in cultures such as that of Mehrgarh, approximately 6000 BC. The two greatest cities, Mohenjo-daro and Harappa, emerged circa 2600 BC along the Indus River valley in Punjab and Sindh.[3] The civilization, with a writing system, urban centers, and diversified social and economic system, was rediscovered in the 1920s after excavations at Mohenjo-daro (which means "mound of the dead") in Sindh near Sukkur, and Harappa, in west Punjab south of Lahore. A number of other sites stretching from the Himalayan foothills in east Punjab, India in the north, to Gujarat in the south and east, and to Balochistan in the west have also been discovered and studied. Although the archaeological site at Harappa was partially damaged in 1857[citation needed] when engineers constructing the Lahore-Multan railroad (as part of the Sind and Punjab Railway), used brick from the Harappa ruins for track ballast, an abundance of artifacts has nevertheless been found.[4]

exacavation in delhi and agra gave proof of same vessels used in harappa, what more proof you want? The first excavation was done by one bengali called Majumdar.I am not saying that Pakistan does not has a right over Harappan civilization ,it is just that you should not claim that it is exclusive to Pak and got nothing to do with India

Though facts like these are indeed something to be proud of, some of these facts are incorrect.

There has been a detailed discussion on whether Varanasi is the oldest continously inhabited city of the world on another thread and at the end apart from some hardcore Indian patriots it was agreed that Damascus is by far the continously inhabited city of the world, followed by other cities in the middle east. Even in South Asia Balkh, in Afghanistan is older and still inhabited, than varanasi. However still varanasi is for sure one of the older cities and in that aspect something to be proud of.

Sikhism has its origins in Punjab. Nankana Sahib, the place of birth and residence of Guru Nanak lies in central punjab in Pakistan, so again we can both claim that Sikhism started in our countries. You because everthing non-muslim in Pakistan supposedly belongs to India according to Indians and me because geographically Nankana Sahib lies in Pakistan and not India.

Taxila is again the same thing. Lies in Pakistan, but Indians claim it because of its being non-muslim. Buddhism again is questionable due to Buddhas birth which was in Nepal.

"The Vishnu Temple in the city of Tirupathi built in the 10th century, is the world's largest religious pilgrimage destination"

Could you explain this further. As far as i know Mecca is the largest site of pilgrimage. Maybe we have differences over what the definition of "largest" is. Maybe Mecca is the largest annual site of pilgrimage?

As for Pi, shed some light on this Budhyana. After some googling and research only indians seem to be saying this budhyana first calculated pi. rest of the world varies from Babylonians to Greeks. Archemides was one of the persons mentioned and i for one am far more willing to believe that than Budhyana, until you give me some evidence that Budhyana was indeed the "first person to calculate pi".

and finally as another person mentioned, the Cambodian King who built the Angor Wat was Cambodian, not Indian. Being Hindu doesnt make you Indian, otherwise 10 percent of Malaysia would be Indian

I wonder what they used for the aesthetics. Nothing alcohol based, right?

The past is irrevelant now when the Indians and Chinese both have to learn english for daily commerce, depend on west for economy, finance, banking and so forth. The computer you are using right now wasnt invented in India neither the internet of forums software. Lets think and talk about future than past.

Indus civilization may be now in Pakistan, but are most Pakistanis proud of this heritage? Most Pakistanis look toward Iran or Saudi Arabia for their cultural, linguistic, and ancestral origins.

Tirupati ousts Vatican, reigns at top

Uma Sudhir
Thursday, September 13, 2007, (Tirumala)
It's official; Tirupati has overtaken the Vatican, not just as the richest temple in the world but also the most visited place of worship.

With more than 50,000 daily visitors and an average of 19 million visitors a year, it is almost double the estimated number of people visiting Vatican City.

"Everyday there are 50,000 to One lakh visitors. On weekends, it is more than one lakh. It is the most important temple in the entire world.

"Pilgrims come from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, rest of the country, even abroad from London, Singapore. In fact, 5-10 per cent of daily visitors are from outside,'' said K.V.Ramanachary, Chief Executive Officer, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.

Interestingly, the unique tradition of offering hair at this temple is also contributing to the richest god's annual income of up to 750 crore rupees. Besides, there is sale of laddoos and donations.

Just last Monday, hundi collections touched an all-time high at 2.25 crore rupees.

"I have seen from 60s to today, the increase in pilgrim flow is phenomenal, beyond all calculation or prediction. It is now number one in the world, in the value of assets or number of devotees visiting everyday,'' said Ramana Deekshitulu, Chief priest, Tirumala.

The nearly 5 lakh people expected at the annual Brahmotsavam celebrations that begin this Saturday will have one more reason to celebrate the glory of their Lord.

And most poor, illeterate minorities r muslims.

None here asked them to live like poor, illeterate miorities. They rather choose themselves to live like.Im talking bout them only who are actually leaving in such situation. There are load of muslims who choose to come in the main stream of nation, study and work to the excellence. My next door neighbours are muslims. And they itself and thier gran's are best palls and working and studying upto thier capabilities.

Those who are mentioned here are itself dont mix up or feel comfortable with leaving inside and with locals than to live in thier own seperate colonies and villages and doesnt prefer to send their kids to the main stream schools/colleges/institutions.Its not that they cant afford but they rather prefer Madarsas or dont know why.And i dont think from their they could clear MBA,Engineering or other competitive exams when its getting harder for the most eligible youngsters to even compete in todays competitive world.

And what is minorities. Is it any sort of number game. Can any one control all popualtion in equal numbers according to thier religion. Somone will always be major/minor in numbers. And even Muslims are second largest population and religion in india.Thier are others(religions)living here too.But none keep crying for minority but rather they prefer keep a pace with the nations growth. They are also not given some special concessions, facilities and status either. But i find These sort of voices are generally coming from outside,i havent seen such issues coming up here so often than others keep repeating and bothering always. We live here and sure we know much more about in around of ours than anyone else. And i asure everyone the way india is at pace everyone who are left and poors will take the stride together by our own strength and togethrness.
