Some Grim Encounters------

PDF is a good forum.. No doubt about it..

The management of every forum has a vision and they encourage the forum's growth in that manner of vision only..

Fortunately, here in PDF that vision is not a tunnel vision or myopic view.. as of now, its a place where a certain tolerance limit is observed beyond which actions are initiated to ensure a proper decorum is maintained and the vision does not just remain on books..

Of course there could be much more in terms of what we all desire and there is a superb opportunity to make brand PDF even bigger.. But all that requires resources, more time and most importantly a good laid out strategy..

As of now most international folks are here in this forum .. That should point to its popularity, discipline and good work by management team..

What we as individual posters can do is
  • Simply keep posting stuff which are higher in quality
  • Not indulge in troll or flamebait threads
  • Keep maintaining decorum in debates as per the mgmt rules
  • point to ppl who are hate mongering, trolls and derails the thread to appropriate authorities
  • Contribute and appreciate the management team for their hard work etc
A special thanks goes to the management team and the Moderators.. PPl have real life and yet they have done some superb work sparing time for an online forum to do their bit.. A big thank you for that...

I will take the contrarian view and say that the forum is run more as a family business with all it's faults and myopic world-view rather than a truly international space where meeting of minds can happen without constraints.

All said and done the fact remains since I am posting here I must find some value and for me that is two-fold.

1. Wealth of topics
2. Opportunity to engage with Pakistanis

Anyway as this thread is constructed to extol the virtues of PDF I will leave it at that

for me its a brilliant experience here.. I m really enjoying here .. the emojis are so cute hahahah

Hi folks!:D

creating this thread so as to know your perspective about :pdf: and how versatile you find it vis a vis other forums-----P.D.F seems to me a jannat when compared with others------have just visited some of them yesterweek---had a horrible experience:sick:apart from nepotism, dictatorial conduct of mods, their themes especially the simileys:fie: scared the living daylights----

good of you to create such a thread... will provide a platform for forum improvement.

pdf is my third forum, the first two being socialist forums with the ideas discussed for application at transnational basis.

while pdf has the weakness of being identified as a "defence forum" ( thereby attracting nationalist disharmony ) it is nice of webmaster and the management and the mods to allow most other topics that are connected to human society and human understanding.

i only wish that the war-mongers, the nationalists, the reactionaries, the capitalists, the racists and every other kind of hate-monger and crook be expelled from the forum so as to make the forum harmonious and help more in offline peace-building and international cooperation of many kinds of which this international forum has more potential than most internet forums and offline forums.

i must say that it is only in recent that occasionally my posts are being deleted because of the hate-mongers reporting them... nevertheless, i have had a good longish stay of almost two years, so what if i wasn't made moderator or tta. :D

i must not fail to state the one thing that many indian members should learn from some pakistani members - call your country the mess it is and not hide away the failings under pompous and anti-intellect nationalist wordings and slogans.

also not to fail to mention that i certainly would like to travel pakistan, like how swara bhaskar did, and most of all sit on that beautiful hill terrace restaurant outside islamabad - monal, and have many rounds of tea with the pakistani friends i made here.

ending with a request to mods and management to put more effort into making the forum more pleasant.

I've managed some 800 posts from 2 ids on this forum. So I am hardly a participant. But I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that it is actually a place where we can say something we like and that's about it. It has hardly any value beyond it. If one really wanted to learn something they would open books not websites. Libraries are full of scholarship on any subject imaginable. We just come here to say something and feel better. We cannot really contribute anything of much value. For example instead of reading the opinion about economics from any forum member I would rather read an economics book by a PhD who has spent all his life thinking about it. But regardless its a place that gives us a voice and we are thankful for that. And BTW Ahsan Farooqi is a fantastic guy.

that is because you do not see websites as a means of gathering and organizing progressive political and cultural movements.

presumably you didn't read my post just above yours. :)

why should that be??

and within two hours i can render that capitalist phd obsolete.

economics is not something one should waste their life on. :)

now that is a back-handed compliment.

In academia everything is peer reviewed. Anyone can say anything but then its reviewed by other academics. They bring the faults and errors to light and then the theory is rubbishes or accepted. All of the generally accepted theories have come to us after rigorous testing. They carry infinitely times more weight than what someone says on the internet.

so who "peer reviewed" the economic, social and political theories of muhammad, marx and muammar?? who "peer reviewed" the ideas of elon musk?? :)

and this "someone on the internet" in earlier decades or earlier centuries could have been someone in another country who would had better ideas and you had heard of through some traveller or adventurer or intellectual.

don't take all this college-vollege stuff too seriously... if phd's and bachelor cards were the measure of education or innovation then india, having the most number of phd's and graduates in the world, would have had settlements on mars by 1980 and these being governed by the most scientific and harmonious political and social system.

if you find mistakes in all the political theories i have presented so far in my 10,000+ posts then please do point them out.

let us act natural.

lastly, money system should be abolished for it would be a most natural progression in humanity... so there, we have abolished the existence of your phd economics fellow. :)

Webmaster is a very pleasant and an accommodating fella. Few mods are kind of rude and yes nepotism prevails here as well, but overall it's mostly good and i would give all the credit to the webmaster. :pakistan:
