I wonder how countries would counter the SOM, I think radar guided AAA, combined with Tor missiles would be great for protecting assets against most any type of cruise missile.
Also, in the future GPS jamming near strategic targets will severely disable the ability for cruise missiles to accurately strike targets and will have to rely on INS systems.
You could add Storm Shadow / Scalp as well.
Bro, keep your eye on this:Yes , also Storm Shadow / Scalp-Eg
STORM SHADOW and JASSM will not be fitted in the internal bays of the F-35
SOM-J and JSM to design of the missile incorporates dedicated fuselage that fits in the internal bays of the F-35
STORM SHADOW and JASSM have no anti ship capability
SOM-J and JSM have both land attack/anti ship capabilities
F-35+SOM-J = very lethal combination
KEMENT PROJECT ( Network Enabled Weapon ) ... only a few countries in the world
The Network Enabled Weapon-Kement project will be available for SOM-J munitions
The Kement project will boost the attack power, survival and flexibility of the cruise missiles with a data network that enables images to be transferred from a single target to multiple targets in air to air and air to ground systems
This will allow the SOM-J to alter a target in flight and acquire a new one with its low altitude flight capability and small radar signature
KEMENT tactical data link terminals will be available in many applications and platforms that require electronic warfare protected , high speed tactical data communication from a long distance
It will add Midcourse guidance and two way communication capability for missiles
Bro, keep your eye on this:
