10-year-old Pakistani girl becomes world's first to scale 7000-m mountain

Selena Khawaja , a 10-year-old Pakistani girl, also known as the mountain princess , has become the youngest climber in the world to summit a 7,000-metre-high mountain.

Selena made history by breaking the record as the youngest mountaineer to scale a 7,027-metre-tall Spantik peak on Wednesday. Spantik or Golden Peak is a mountain in the Karakoram subrange in Gilgit Baltistan Nagar Valley.

The young prodigy already holds multiple records of summiting 5,000 and 6,000-meter peaks. In June this year, she scaled Mingli Sar (6050m) whereas in 2018 she made headlines when she climbed 5,765-metre Quz Sar Peak.

Pakistani mountaineer Sirbaz Khan scales the world's 12th highest mountain, Broad Peak

Pakistan’s Serena Hotels after supporting mountaineer Sirbaz Khan announced on Monday his feat of climbing the twelfth highest mountain in the world –Broad Peak.

Without the use of supplementary oxygen, Sirbaz Khan came out successful in his ‘Mission Summit 14’ as he scaled the 8047 metre peak and aims to summit all of the world’s 14 highest peaks above 8,000 metres without using oxygen tanks.

The expedition was completed by Khan earlier this month where he was accompanied by four climbers from Nepal, USA, and Germany.

Injured female American climber evacuated

ISLAMABAD: Michelle Marco, an American female climber who fell off from Biafo Hispar glacier near Nagar valley has been airlifted and evacuated to Skardu for medical treatment and trauma management, Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) said on Thursday.

Michelle, who sustained multiple injuries after falling off near Uzum Brakk at the height of 15,000 feet was also accompanied by a fellow US climber, Patrick Light, Secretary ACP Karrar Haidri said in a statement.

Both climbers were successfully evacuated.

He said that helicopters were used for the swift and timely evacuation, saving precious life of the American climber.

No doubt, it is also a full range of exploration expedition which appears in the heart of Central Karakoram and invites all adventurers particular foreigners to see this hidden beauty of Pakistan..
