Singapore PM: Japan should admit mistake, China and Korea should stop repeatedly asking for apology

Who gives a cahoot?

Public opinion becomes foreign policy. Friendship or not, it is important to be civil and well behaved.

The unresolved issues in East Asia is for Asians to settle. Insignificant Turks carry no weight here. In fact they carry no weight anywhere.

If you truly believe that people should stfu about the war, you are seriously mistaken and my opinion of you has fallen several notches.

My friend,

I can see that you are emotional in this post and I can empathize with your response, given the sensitive issue we are talking about. My response to Sinan was sincere and I mean this in regards to the political aspect. Whether you and I like it or not, we have to understand, to appreciate that there will always be politicization of events in the war to meet national agenda -- unfortunate as it may be.

The politicians in Japan have to invoke a sincere impression of what we Japanese refer to as "Naikan" 内観 -- which means "self looking" or what we in in the social sciences and managerial fields refer to as "Introspection". When i say introspection -- Japanese politicians have to address the following themes in context to Japanese national interest and our region: a) have there been enough financial reparations to afflicted party? b) has there been the adjudication of bilateral framework to address past grievances? c) has there been policies to increase people-to-people cultural and diplomatic exchange?

And when we see these themes -- or at least make a brief analysis -- and we will see that Japanese politicians from Katayama, to Yoshida, to Ikeda, Fukuda, Nakasone, Uno, Kaifu, Hata, Murayama, to Abe --- all have upheld these themes and have worked tirelessly to address them. In politics, nothing is black and white and one has to understand the factor of national interest and its role in gaining confidence within the constituency. These all influence their execution of their duties in the national and international sense.

Thanks,

See... they doesn't give a shxt what small countries are saying :coffee:
All they can do is using soft power and hope the future generations forgot what they did in the past (modern war).

Singapore at first should make itself as a significant country in world politics before jumping the guns on advising states much stronger and powerful than itself.

Malaysia is Japan's strategic partner as witnessed when Najib visited Tokyo this month. Even requesting to see His Imperial Majesty the Emperor and Empress after meeting with Abe. There is no ill feelings between Malaysia and Japan. In fact, one can say our relationship is a model for the region in how effective the bilateral framework is. :)

The Emperor listens to PM Najib,

Of course we do. Japan listens intently to our relevant partners, Malaysia and Singapore included.

Singapore may be a small country but it has so much influence for its size. It asks the Asian powers to settle their problems and act responsibly. Nothing more.

And Singapore

One guy is kicking the child, then he presses the poor kid's hands on the floor. It's brutal man. Only a child !!!
I watched the video again, does that there was a man to play with the child. Sorry for this, but
If you can understand what those people said from this video , you will know that there is someone is trying to stop him , they are saying "he is just a child, forget it, also is very poor"

I heard that, it would have been the social crime on the streets of Turkey, in fact this is a similar social problems.

"Lessons can be learned and generated from a deep analysis in what happened and what went wrong in where ever the hell this is. Thanks for sharing your view."

Wouldn't you agree?

Now, on a more serious note, this is a barbaric time in our history, racial harmony takes time, and it takes effort from both sides.

Like America, there are bad people, there are good people and a lot of people in between who follows the trend.

Just like this story, there are stories of minority children being rushed, with military help, and civilian help to major Chinese commercial centers for treatment.

I am by no means saying this is just a group of people, it's not, China needs to apologize for this part of our history in the days to come, just like what America is doing.

I have discussed with you before on this apologizing issue, I don't really want to rehash it. Let's just leave it, at this point, we have moved far beyond what a few words can do, before the status quo of Asian can be re established to reflect changing realities, we wont' settle this either way.

You are using the same nasty trick again: trying to establish a common enemy in China so as to cement the bond between Japan and Turkey
The same thing that you are displaying on the forum with the Indians, Viets, Pinoys
Here is one example
Japan gets contract to build strategeic roads on Indo-China border

Of course the "smiling dolphin" culture of Japan. But what choices does Japan have. Their game plan is really "Let's provoke China-US and hope both of them beat each other badly. Once they are weakened we can remove the shackles from US and even gain some territories in China."

The Viets have the same game plan.

@Nihonjin1051
How would you describe the situation from 2009? Barbaric too? We have seen photo of a Japanese soldier piercing his bayonet through a Chinese baby how would you call that? Yes it's no excuse for kicking a kid by an adult man but the way you describe the action of a single guy who caught a young thief as monstrous act is nothing compared to this video

Its erroneous to compare the actions of Imperial soldiers some 70 years ago with the actions of civilians in this current epoch, my friend. In Japan, it is socially unacceptable to even hit children, even if they are 'thieves' as seen in the video. We just don't do that.

I was just expressing my personal opinion, @huzihaidao12 , particularly my opposition to the use of brute force on children. Thanks.

Of course, it is important to find the cause of conflict. I'm not trying to undermine or ignore the recent ethnic tension in Xinjiang as a real social factor. That is an issue that has to be dealt with by the Government. But as a Psychologist , I merely am empathetic and concerned for population groups whom are susceptible and these are geriatric (elderly) as well as pediatric (children) ones. My concern was how that one gentleman just kicked the child , while everyone else stands there watching without even inhibiting. We can agree that stealing or an attempt to steal is not requisite for being physically accosted like that.

We do not do that in Japan. In fact people will intervene immediately if children are being abused.

Like I said, if you can understand the language, it is better to understand that people have stopped the man, they are advised him, "The thief? He was a child, forget it, he is also poor ", in fact, they are successful, the man never do again.
So, the video has certain deceptive, that is why I went to explain it. Thank you for your understanding.
