Singapore overtakes Hong Kong ...

That's why most HKers should not fall into the anti-China propaganda like this, these people hate HK, they wanna help their western master to loot HK again.

Seriously, ignore anything that appears in the "Apple Daily" tabloid. They are the Hong Kong equivalent of Fox News, maybe even worse.

Those people don't care about anything, except making money off cheap media sensationalism. Personally I hate any tabloids, but Apple Daily is the worst.

They would all be with the banks and financial services ....and working for Global companies..

There are only 7000 Indians in all of HK (as per wikipedia) ... maybe there are more Americans and Europeans there... and Koreans and Japanese too....

And Filipinos would be as much as those in Singapore !!!

I think, language is the issue there ...and then no jobs other than those with non-HK (basically western) companies.

I think there are more Indians in HK, and i do remember there was a documentary about the Indians in HK, there are about more than 7000 i think, or maybe some of them have returned to India or it may include other South Asians.

These far right nuts are even worse than the western far right, at least the western far right loves their own people, while these cunts hate their own people.

There are a lot of South Asians in Hong Kong, more than in any other PRC city. However they are still only a very small percentage of the population.

But if you take a walk down in the middle of Central during a Sunday, you can see nothing but Filipino maids... everywhere. :woot:

Not that I have a problem, they are generally good workers.

In Hong Kong, we positioned ourselves as the "Gateway" between mainland China and the rest of the world.

That is how we made our riches, and that is how we sustain ourselves.

Hell, we even import our drinking water from the mainland.

HK, knows Taiwan more than Mainland
HK, Knows Mainland More than Taiwan
HK, Knows the World more than Mainland
HK, Knows Mainland more than the world.

I personally reckon Hong Kong is still 'better' than Singapore for there are fewer restrictions in Hong Kong unlike dictatorial Singapore. Singaporeans, in general, also seem to be very uptight and rigid compared to Hong Kong citizens. That's my own personal impression, of course, and others may not necessarily agree with it.

The two cities are perhaps the closest competitors of each other, in that regard, there is not much to separate one from the other.Another difference between the two economies is the heavy direct government intervention in the form of GLCs in Singapore that are probably lacking in Hong Kong, where private entrepreneurs like Lee Ka Shing, for example, has a greater direct impact on the economy.

Dictorial Singapore? Buddy, the right word is "Strict and Orderly" lah.

Since you don't live here, please refrain from making such irresponsible comments on behalf of others. If everyone will to go by this principle, the world will be a much better place for all. LOLOL.

I like both Singapore and Hongkong. Hong Kong is very much liberal and have very low tax while Singapore has strict laws. Both are international cities with large foreign populations.

They are many similarities, the most prominent are both are financial international financial centres and entre port for resource rich neighbours (HK - Mainland. SG - Malaysia and Indonesia).

I used to live in TST-East Hong Kong for more than 6 months while working in both HK and SZ, It is very orderly and clean city, same as Singapore, usually it is the foreign visitors who do not have clealiness self-discipline tend to mess up the city like littering the streets, eating and drinking on public transport etc. HK a mess? No way!

It does not matter HK or SG being No.1 financial centre, I like them both.

Personally, I would be more concerned about safety in Hong Kong ..... which is now under chinese rule.

A "Yiwu" like thing is more likely in Hong Kong (under china) .... and..

On that front .. Singapore is an altogether different matter.

Don't know why .. but I feel safer in Singapore than in even a typical continental European country (i.e. excluding UK, which is very very liberal)...

Possibly HK "was" like Singapore and UK before 1997 .... but now it doesn't inspire the confidence in terms of personal safety ... and that is much much more important than money.

Singaporeans hate nobody.. and the rule of law prevails, and that is a very important factor.

If HKers can hate and abuse mainlanders .... what to say about others ..better for foreigners to stay within the four walls of the office or home.

Lee Kuan Yew -> Goh Chok Tong -> Lee Kuan Yew's son, Lee Hsien Loong
All PAP. No criticism of PAP allowed. No criticism of USA and West allowed. List can continue. This place is not most suited for that.

Horray to the immense economic strengths of ethnic Chinese!
Singapore is not built my Chinese but by Singaporeans.

Frankly, how many singaporean do really feel the joys? At what costs are we paying when we are forging ahead so fast? i.e. any trade off on ours fundamental rights such as... family and social values, justic system and national unity, environment and quality of life etc...?

Life and happiness is not determined by such empty and hollow standing or ranking, I rather trade in all these just to ensure that we have a geniune society without crooks and liars....

So sad!::argh:

We are happy with what we have.

. . .
Well, its also built by malaysians , indian, and indonesians . You just can't credit Ethnic Chinese for Singapore growth.

The largest ethnic group usually gets the bigger share of credit under normal circumstances
