Consensus reached on 47 NA, 90 PA seats in Sindh
F.P. Report
KARACHI: After so many ups and down the ten-party alliance on Thursday finally settled on the names for consensus candidates for National and provincial assembly seats from Sindh.
The ten-party alliance, thus, became the biggest electoral coalition where voters of ten different nationalist, religious and political parties would vote for a single contestant on 47 out of 61 national assembly seats from the Sindh province while 90 joint Sindh assembly candidates would also get their votes.
The alliance, however, is still unable to forge consensus over 14 national and 40 provincial assembly seats, the final decision on which now is with Pir Sahib Pagara , chief of PML-F, according to the decision taken by the allies.
Although the political allies withdrew their candidates from different constituencies where consensus candidate was announced the PML-F, the leading party and big beneficiary of the alliance could not persuade its candidate Kamran Tesori, running for NA-250, to withdraw in favor of Jamaat-e-Islami's candidate, Naimatullah Khan. PML-N and JUI-F both have withdrawn their candidates from this seat in favor of former city Nazim.
According to the consensus list, PML-F has got the maximum numbers of the seats as its candidates will be contesting as joint candidates of the ten party alliance on 13 national assembly and 32 provincial assembly seats against PPP and MQM candidates. ]
PML-N has been given 8 national and 15 provincial assembly seats, including three national assembly seats from Karachi, the alliance which comprise three religious parties, JI, JUI-F and JUP, would lead the allies, with sixteen NA seats, excluding NA-250, collectively.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), which has grabbed most of the Karachi seats, has been given 10 national assembly and 13 provincial assembly seats from Sindh. JUI-F has got 6 national and 9 provincial assembly seats while JUP will get the collective vote on 6 national and 7 provincial assembly seats. NPP has been given one national and 6 provincial assembly seats while Sindhi nationalist parties, STP and SUP, have got 3 national and 4 provincial assembly seats.
