Glad, that people finally realized the sellout south indian leaders used dravidian aryan bs to pull votes; but, for real de-colonization shouldn't tamils just go to TN then? British brought them over.. and isn't it true that were an educated minority, helping in running country since Brits didn't trust Sinahlese after the Sinhala king betrayed the dutch?

So not always been a 'opressed' minority. Lol Lanka used to be a sikh kingdom, in the 1400's place always been all over..

TN is one of the most progressing state in India with high HDI

thats why i say tamils should seek independence, they have high HDI where as other poor indian states dont and they seek separate independent identity in srilanka so it means tamils actually want to be independent :)

Did we forget the Tamils in Singapore? If it was not for Lee Kuan Yew relenting to make Tamil the 3rd official language of Singapore, I am sure the Tamils there would have fought for a Singapooram

Are you really sure that the Eelam dream was only for and about Sri Lanka?
Let's assume the Tamils got an Eelam. World over, Tamils would certainly have gone for an Eelam passportam yinstead offa Yindian worr yenni yathar paasa-portam

The very word Eelam means the norther and eastern regions of sri lanka.

We have a separate name for our region that is Tamil Nadu and our country name is India.

I don't understand what else pooram you are speaking about from your imagination.

Eelam was just a small part of the vast project of Dravida Desham.. First started in 1885 citing the mythical superiority of Chola Kingdoms and the Tamil Language.. Then evolved to the anti Hindi programme in 1917 through the justice party.. Later the movement amalgamated with the freedom struggle of India

In 1944 Tamil Nadu (south India) raised the cry for separation. While other Indians and most Asian countries under the British, wanted the British to leave their countries as fast as possible, the TN Tamils pleaded with the English not to leave without granting them a separate state, called DRAVIDA DESAM in which they included parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Malabar. But Tamil not being their language, the people in those states, resented being included in a "Dravida" State.

In 1958, Indian Tamils began rioting in Tamil Nadu and burnt the Indian Constitution. This made Nehru bring in the 16th Amendment to the Indian Constitution, which said that those running for office should uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India.

Then MGR saw the perfect opportunity to use northern SL as the casting point using the Indira doctrine at that time given the island didn't have a strong armed force and was getting cosy to the US.. Which in turn made Indira Gandhi nervous and rest is history

But not the aspirations of certain TN Tamils of their mythical nation

. . .
If Pakistan (or any country) was evil enough and resourceful enough and patient enough, this can be achieved.

- find a separatist kernel and nurture it; there is one in every community.
- unleash media campaign to highlight cultural and historical differences between Tamils and other Indian groups.
- unleash media campaign to highlight injustices against Tamils (real or imagined).
- unleash media campaign to highlight injustices by Tamils (real or imagined).
- a few false flag operations never hurt to inflame sentiments on both sides.
- label anyone who catches on as a conspiracy nut.
- provide sanctuary to separatist groups where they can raise money and plan mischief.

Keep the above recipe cooking for a couple of decades and voila!
