Popularity of Bollywood is decreasing in Pakistan. Nair might die from the shock.

Every year popularity increasing....

There are broadcast rules which every channel should follow. Pakistan has permitted certain percentage of foreign content but our channels are violating this law.

Setting limits in this day and age is pure stupidity as I can easily turn to computer and watch what I want when I want.

it is not about limits sure everyone is allowed to watch any content endlessly on own private computer. When we talk about broadcasting every country has some rules. Pakistani channels as per law can air certain amount of foreign content be it Indian, American or Martian.

I don't know. Bollywood doesn't really hold importance in my life or people I know and associate with everyday in Pakistan.

Film is an entertainment and so part of most of pakistani's life those watch films in TV,Theater and even computer etc.Entertainment is a part of human life as well...It also creates employment opportunities to many from rich to poor.

Depends. I learned a lot of stuff from nat geo.

Absolutely agree. It really does depend, on what you what, who you watch it with, and what you do about it. A lot of people don't understand the influence of TV. Many people will put cartoons on the TV and not realise what cultural values are being transmitted to their kids via those cartoons.

There are good cartoons and there are bad cartoons. I don't let my daughter watch things like Bratz or Barbie or any of those cartoons which emphasise her worth as being limited to how she dresses and who thinks she is cool or not. This means I spend a lot of time watching childrens TV with her to screen what she is watching. At the same time i found stuff on the BBC to be really good and teach values through the storyline.

Entertainment shows are just the same. You just have to appreciate what context everyone in the audience in your home is looking at the material at. A lot of people here are from middle class backgrounds or higher class backgrounds and i'm sure you guys have successful parents and positive role models.

I come from a working class background, most of the people i grew up with were the same. None of our fathers worked 9-5. My pops would stop work after school, spend the evening with us and head back out in his taxi when it was our bed time. he did that so he could spend time raising us. I had friends who's fathers worked night shifts, they'd see them on their days off. Those mothers were then busy with house work, taking kids to after school stuff, etc - a lot of mums would put the TV so the kids would stop moving and then do their housework. those kids would watch TV unsupervised. I know people who still do that, and don't understand the harm in that, even though they are now in middle class lifestyles.
