The next 18 block 52 -- bad timming, Afghan war is winding down -- the lead time to get the next 18 is about three years -- no one knows what would happen in next three when there would not be direct US involvement in Afghanistan. Furthermore, India would have chosen its new fighter!!!!
The better option would be to stick to MLU option and get more low airframe hour earlier blocks.

Where as i see the logic in your stance, The US might not want to sell us too many older variants for obvious reasons. We may yet be arm wresled into buying more Bl52s and in fact PAF is currently in talks with US about 14-18 new BL52s.I see it as a logical stand on grounds that the moment the first Bl52 lands in Pakistan, US reasons for keeping us away from them goes in the bin. They can sanction us again , but will end up losing out as that leaves us free of all the commitments that we have made. So in short this may well be the reason for getting more Bl52s in my humble opinion. We will still be getting our old Bl15OCUs and perhaps some more airframes for MLU. Lets wait and see.
