Should India partner with SCS countries for 1500T SSK low cost ?

This could be done with greater inputs from Indian shipyards for exports and making up larger numbers at low cost . India should lead this initiative for the countries of SCS which in turn will help smaller economic power house of Asia to take on the mighty dragon . Russia can also be a share holder of this project with sufficient input !

This will help India to have stronger strengthening relationship with our strategic partners in the region . Many private shipyards would be willing to take part as manufacturer of the project .

What do you think guys ? India also can develop our version or add the same into our inventory !!!

We operate Type 209s, and we have at least some level of TOT.

Lets give L&T a chance to refit the two submarines and also all the ToT we have.

After it let them produce a prototype , use our DRDO AIP system and order 3 for our navy.

Then let's see how it turns out .

It would be more feasible if we add HSL to this project as they have a deal with South Korean submarines maker which licenced manufactured type 209. They can be a help.

We should form a joint committee members of SCS and few Latin countries who has good relationship with India and spearhead the project for low cost SSK . We already possess the expertise we can use it as tool to arm SCS countries + gain respect among the world community to have better voice globally !!! When smaller countries invest with what ever they can the cost of SSK can be brought down to the minimum !!! While we enjoys greater expertise in this SSK mass production and use it for our future programme

I must clarify : What am proposing is totally for exports .There are many countries in scs who can't afford to invest in buying 6 submarines . On other hand we need to prop up our underwater fleet as well . So I guess by join venture like F35 programme but only difference is that we can do it much better than US as technology involved for decent ssk is readily available globally ! Pulling in Russians will boost this programme in a very big way. As least Russians can do is 300-400 mil $ kilo . Anything lesser than this will be able to get lots of buyers
