What's new

should India electrify its fence on Bangladesh border?

Not done yet??? I thought the border with BD is already electrified,.. we are very slow.. bad..:hitwall:

Have you ever visited Bangladesh ever since?
No mate,i haven't till date.As long as my Grand dad was alive he didn't give permission to any of his children to visit their ancestral home in Bangladesh out of the fear that they might never return alive from that country(a bit silly i know but then again he had actually seen the horrors of partition through his own eyes). After his death,my elder maternal uncle visited Bangladesh once to see his ancestral home but when he arrived there the locals told him that our ancestral house had been totally destroyed during the Bangladesh Liberation war and hence he came back a bit disappointed.
I was a little boy at that time and hence didn't get the chance to go with him but i think that may be someday i might get a chance to visit land of my ancestors.

Are all ties between Bangladesh & India due to illegal border crossings? Official Ports of Entry will still be open, like it happens between all modern nations.

India has close ties with lot of countries, not all of them have borders with India.

will miss cow meat:(
Smuggling will reduce, export and import can continue via official Ports of Entry.

I know a bonglo here in Canada. She can't understand a dhukka of Hindi, I guess that's why they call their capital dhaka.

I care. So India wont do it. Really funny.

Leave aside electrifying. Total fencing itself is expensive and impossible to cover the whole area.

And all Indian border area people are living on illegal trade with Bangladesh. So it will seriously affect Indian economy.

Edit: many of the areas India violating International border so BD is protesting. And BSF causing troubles to BD farmers to farm near the fence.
What a moron, how will Illegal trade affect Indian economy when it wont be counted as legal money?
Or does your government deal with other nations always in illegal trade?
:D

Fencing is ineffective, just mine the border and install sentry guns which shoot anything that moves in the no man's land
Yep mine the whole border and put auto sentry guns with motion detectors which can be manually controlled by BSF in a control room with a thermal camera.

Each nest would cover a range of 1000 meters.
So according to calculation Bangladesh and India share a 4,096-kilometer (2,545-mile)-long international border,
It would take 4000 of these nests to effectively guard the whole border aside from the land mines.Considering we have fence already we mine the No mans Land.
Its a effective way of dealing, cheaper than electrifying the whole fence.

Do you have any idea how serious the issue is? Bangladeshis are migrating to India on large scale and nothing is stopping them to settle in India. Not even fencing. Forget about West Bengal, Assam. They are in Nagaland also. Nagas are now getting outnumbered by illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

There would be a total economic boycott. Any business establishment employing illegal Bangladeshi immigrants would be boycotted too. However, keeping in view the immediate economic realities of the state, Bangladeshi labour force, including agriculture labourers, would be kept outside the purview of boycott for the time being.

Oh yes, we PAKISTANIs at PDF have a very good idea and completely understand this massive immigrant problem you've highlighted above. We are experiencing an exact situation here on our forum.

Here too, keeping the economic realities in perspectives, this current rat infestation is being tolerated for the time being.

How about some guard dogs, mined DMZ, and shootings. All these so folks from BD do not go to the land of milk and honey !!

So when is Modi going to deport the 20 millions or whatever the number is now from India ?
