Currently I'm in university and receiving OSAP (financial aid by the govt). So basically they give an x amount of money each school year. For now there is no interest but after 6 months of graduation, interest starts. I know people with thousands of dollars in student loans and they are really stressed. OSAP basically gives money for tuition and other expenses. I paid off my tuition for this year with OSAP but 2 thousand dollars were still leftover so I blew that money lol.
Now I'm thinking after I graduate I will have thousands of dollars of debt and probably in the future the economy would be worse. So why not just move to another country? I'm thinking either Pakistan, China or the States. I know a person who moved to the states and he had 40 grand in student loans, he`s living a comfortable life in the states but the downside is you can`t go back to Canada.

Should I do it? And please no moral posts. I know its cheating the government and the tax payers but you do what you gotta do. I still have a few more years before I`m done my undergrad at university.

No don't do it because your going to have problems entering back into Canada plus any financial transactions you make may be affected (dunno how...but I find it hard to believe that they are going to let go of this quietly) and yeah you're credit rating will be rock bottom which means No loans ever again..from anywhere because they do conduct a background check.

There is no reason you can't pay off the loan. The government invests in you, so you can in turn, get a good job. When I graduated from McMaster, I had almost $20,000 in OSAP loans; I've cut it almost in half in less than a year. It's just a matter of prioritizing and realizing you have responsibilities, once you're done school. If you have trouble finding a job, I'm pretty the OSAP people will be lenient in regards to repayment. Call them up and find out what options you have, if you can't gain proper employment after graduation. They are usually helpful.
