Its being done already with FC-1 and FC-20 & i do hope it continues in the future.

:coffee: You may have found PAF does not like to use the twin-engine aircraft. So I think PAF would not buy the J-20, China and Pakistan will be cooperative R&D a single-engine 5G fighter.

That is according to a hardware procurement document expiring in 2019 . We have used twin engines in past and if necessary those birds can be considered again.

Starting a new project is not worth it. Buying the J 20 and maintaining it will be far cheaper.

Twin engined fighter won't kill the PAF.

Thats true & i think this is exactly what will happen unless China comes up with a single engine 5th gen program aimed at exports to rival F-35.

Should simply finish J 20 and start on new gen fighters and offer J 20 for later as that would be faster.

So anyone have a timescale of when Pakistan should get J 20s?

Well that is a question that a commoner like you and I cant answer, we dont know what is going on behind the curtains. How many a times there are rumors when it comes to China Pakistan deals, and then there are not even them. And they just surprise friends and foes alike. We will just have to wait and see what they have under their sleeves this time around.

:coffee:
Twin-engine fighter advantages: good voyage. (But Pakistan is very close to New Delhi)
Twin-engine fighter shortcomings: maintenance costs too much.

Very close to New Delhi from Pakistan, and the J-20 is big voyage.
PAF is a defensive air force, and the J-20 is a good long-range penetration fighter. So J-20 is not suitable for PAF.
If the PAF want to attack New Delhi, The short-range missile is better than the J-20.

I think that PAF needs of these:Single-engine, Multi-purpose, Cheap, Easy maintenance, Stealth fighter
------------------------
China can not only one 5G-fighter-project.
:pop: PLA also need single-engine 5G fighter. Do not forget, our CV need 5G Carrier-based aircraft.
J-20 can not become a Carrier-based aircraft, because it is a big guy.

:pop:Unless PAF need to use J-20 to attack the India's CV, They more need single-engine 5G aircraft.

Depends on China's financial and technological capability of maintaining both programs at once as the single engine would be a huge success.

So anyone have a timescale of when Pakistan should get J 20s?

Around 2020 in my mind , it will give Pakistan plenty of time to take care of the finances.

Isn't J10C just J20:confused:

Uh, no it isn't

The bottom one is what Russia identifies as the J-10C:
