I think if we are talking about small arms the Germans and Americans make the finest however my personal favorite is the Israeli Galil which are now hard to come by here in the States and are a modified AK design.I do own a few AK 47's but the best AK on the planet is made by an American firm in Beijing China called Polytech.....they make match grade AK's unriivaled by anyone. The general military grade AK is not a very accurate weapon and poorly made.Getting back to the original post about the Mig-25 Foxbat.....it is NOT the fastest plane out there for military use.The F-15 is.The F-15 was designed after the Mig-25 and is much faster in every aspect.During the cold war the Russian's were leaking FALSE information about their weapons capabilities and as a result the American's created aircraft/weapons that met these false claims. Why would the Israeli's choose the F-15 as their premier aircraft if it wasn't superior in it's capabilities? That aircraft uses a titanium airframe(45,000 lbs) not to mention 2 29,000 pound thrust motors(13,000 more than it weighs) ,it is light and very powerful and will leave the runway from a dead stop to 80,000 feet faster than any other jet on the planet currently. It was dominating the skies since it's inception until stealth came along. Now it is the F-22 Raptor. If we were to look at the first war in Iraq we can see just how well the Russian military equipment did against US technology.I think Sadaam's military was completely wiped out in under a week which was something unheard of in previous wars.I saw a special on the F-15 and an Israeli pilot in Desert Storm had his wing completely blown off and he still managed to regain control of his aircraft and land safely.McDonnel Douglas sent a team down to examine the plane and find out how it was able to do it.They determined at the end of the report that he was able to stabilize the plane on shear horsepower coming out of those 2 monster engines. Now tell me what other plane can have a wing shot off and still successfully fly nonetheless land? Also, the cold war ended after the US created Al Quaeda during the war between Afghanistan and Russia. The US secretly supplied Stinger missiles and taught them how to use them against the Russians.A $20,000 missile shot down most of their helicopters that cost $10 million a piece. With Russia's already poor internal management of money combined with their HUGE losses in Afghanistan caused them economic ruin. And so.....the Cold War ended.Just so everyone knows....I am not biased about race/religion/origin.ALL technology is stolen, borrowed, modified and developed by those who get their hands on it.The world actually owes the biggest advances the world has ever seen to Adolph Hitler and the Germans from World War 2.It is the technology that was pillaged there that has shaped the world we live in today. The Germans were far more advanced than anyone else during those times. The Cold War started because the Allies took most of that technology and didn't give the Russians their fare share.Even the AK 47 is a derivitive of the German StG 44.So when you guys talk about whose is better just remember that everything we see now has it's roots in German World War 2 technology........weapons,the media, etc.Even putting a man on the moon was made possible by Wernher von Braun who was the Nazi's leading rocket scientist brought to the USA to continue his work.

was a saying in the Soviet Union - if you want a quality weapon, buy German if you want cheap - buy Chinese, but if you prepare for war - buy Soviet

In brief, a very shallow article with hand picked examples, while reality in the broad sense speaks for itself; American's with their best pilots lost over 700 best air war machines of that time the F-4 phantoms, and lost the war in Vietnam, the same happened to them in Iraq and Afghanistan facing nothing in the skies. The Russians didn't fare better in Afghanistan despite their might and closeness.
Indians talk about winning skirmishes as winning wars, there is a very big difference.
War depends on circumstances, motivation level depending itself on the morality of the war; its righteousness or falsehood, not on the weapons used, but by whom they are used and for what reasons; how come 350 000 US soldiers have been found recently suffering from mental disorders!!!
How can a kalashnikov wins against the best Tanks, artillery and modern aircrafts, or is it the human behind it.
No bad feelings , but there are much more examples of Pakistani air crews defeating Indian counterparts in all literature. the same for the Indian Navy that was completely paralysed because of the presence of one Pakistani submarine in its waters, without the help of the commonwealth and Russia India couldn't even claim a skirmish win, not because of cowardness, but because Indian heart is normally soft and not a warrior like heart, so, having an offensive warrior-like talk from an Indian, just sounds unnatural.

Well The American system of weapons have never taken on the Russian System of weapons Head on or neither the Russians. A war is fought as a whole system and weapons are made to integrate everything together to fight as a system. A F22 is going to be useless to a Sub-Saharan African country even if given for free because they lack the system that supports the F22. That is why comparisons of individual weapon system is fanboy stuff. If a weapon system performs very well in a war then it dosen't mean that the weapon system was outstanding...but it is best said that the weapon system was suited properly in the doctrine.

Just like the AK 47....it is a weapon built to fight an attrition war and that is what it did perfectly in the Vietnam conflict. It needed less maintainance and the people who used the weapon were hardly literate to know the parts. That is why you dont see the Afghan Militia using Bullpups as it requires more maintainance and it is difficult to acquire parts for it. The infamous Kalashnikovs are the preferred weapons for an attrition war.

Another example is the Il-2 and the T-34 combo during the world war 2...these were also well integrated in the Red army and spelt doom for the Nazi ground forces.

There are many examples. It all boils down to training and logistics supply to maintain a force for combat. When few raptors flown by Suriname is faced by 20 MiG 21s flown by the USAF I think the MiG 21s can set up an ambush do defeat it. Because the USAF would have thought of integrating the MiG 21s to their whole war fighting capablity in such a way that it can extort the maximum out of the machine.
