6 Biman staff suspended for emergency landing of flight carrying PM

Six officials of engineering and technical department of Biman Bangladesh Airlines have been suspended in connection with the emergency landing of a flight carrying Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina at an airport in Turkmenistan on Sunday.

The suspended officials are SM Rokonuzzaman, Samiul Haque, Lutfor Rahman, Milon Chandra Biswas, Zakir Hossain and Siddiqur Rahman, said in a statement issued by the Biman authorities this evening.

The decision was taken on the preliminary investigation report prepared by a body of the national flag carrier, the statement read.

Earlier in the day, Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon said the Biman flight carrying premier made the emergency landing due to “human failure factors”.

“The flight was compelled to make the emergency landing due to human failure factor,” Menon said at a press conference at his ministry office in the secretariat on the basis of the probe body report.

On November 27, the Boeing 777 was compelled to make an emergency landing at Ashgabat airport in Turkmenistan on her way to Budapest.
