Nothing. People from a political party protested democratically. They were not carrying AKs or explosive vests. They did not have intention to harm the people of Mumbai who were their vote banks. The democratically elected government arrested these people and allowed the film to be screened, which was cleared by censor board of india. The people watched the film as they knew shiv sena will not harm them because they are its main vote bank. The arrested people were later released. The film after initial success bombed in india for "LACK OF ENTERTAINMENT CONTENTS"

On the same evening, a survey was conducted by a newspaper in Mumbai, which asked peoples vote on "Should Shiv Sena be banned?"

The people replied with a big "NO"

Then, a big bomb blast in pune happened and people of Mumbai kicked the govt. for giving unnecessary importance to MNIK and providing unnecessary protection to the film as it became evident that the ruling party prevented Shahrukh from talking to Shiv Sena who actually was all set to have a meeting with shiv sena and had no intention of causing mayhem anywhere, but ruling party saw this as a big opportunity and used Shahrukh as a weapon to settle score with opposition.

People forgot all these and started talking about IPL.

Moral of the story. This is indian politics. No outsider can really understand this and people in india know very well how to balance the things out. Jai Ho Democracy.
