The Pakistan all-rounder is the third Pakistan cricketer to test positive for the novel virus after Taufeeq Umar and Zafar Sarfaraz. However, has recovered from coronavirus after going into a 14-day self-isolation at home. The former Pakistan open tested positive last month. His second test after 14 days negative in the first week of June.

Scotland’s Majid Haq and South Africa’s Solo Nqweni are the other cricketers to have contracted the virus.

Afridi has been doing social work during the Covid-19 pandemic via ‘Shahid Afridi Foundation’. He also asked Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh to tweet videos urging people to donate to his foundation.

The 40-year-old faced flak for his comments on India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (Azad Kashmir). Yuvraj, Harbhajan slammed Afridi for his derogatory comments.

I think that we should not give much importance to a nobody seeking post retirement adulation. That's the problem with local stars, fame is addictive. Was a decent enough player, good record against his rival country in the early phase of his career, but that's that. We mustn't hyperventilate, let the flame course out...

The blame doesn't lie with Afridi alone, but also the people of Pakistan. Just look at PDF - people here are already pinning their hopes of him becoming the next PM of Pakistan despite Afridi having no experience of politics or governance :hitwall:

Anyway, I wish him well and a speedy recovery.

I wish him well too, did a good thing by disclosing his COVID status, there is still a lot of stigma associated with it. May he recover soon.

Indians are the worst haters of Afridi. When Afridi speaks against Indian atrocities and human rights abuses in Kashmir, the RSS brigade becomes active on social media. These crocodile tears don't mean much.

Pakistan is rushing towards " herd immunity " leaving India far behind.

Soon Pakistan's economy will unlocked hundred percent. While India will be far behind languishing in lockdown mode.

Is he that important to deserve any attention by Indians ?

let him become PM first then he will be a deserving candidate of hatred.

Your media certainly thinks he is important. Why else would they report?

Afridi is never going to become the PM.

Who really cares what Indians think? A cesspit of hate and shit.
A man has COVID and is ill. Asks for prayers - I don’t care who he is Muslim or otherwise - he has my prayers and thoughts for his family.

Yaar I don’t understand- they’re on PDF - saying it will be interesting to see Indian opinion. I don’t really give a shit what Indian media think - it’s been proven they are liars and full of hatred - why would we Pakistanis give a shit of their opinions?
Not an Afridi fan but he is Pakistani and asking for prayers - he will always get them from me
