ARACHI: The 66th martyrdom anniversary of Pakistan’s first Prime Minister Shaheed-e-Millat Khan Liaquat Ali Khan is being observed wholeheartedly on Monday, October 16 today.

PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in his message on this occasion acknowledged Liaquat Ali Khan as a trusted friend and companion of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He said that it was during his tenure as Prime Minister that Pakistan’s time-tested and time-honored friendship with China was established at its very core.

Prime Minister said that on this day ‘we reaffirm our pledge to work tirelessly and selflessly in order to make Pakistan a progressive, tolerant, prosperous and secure nation as envisioned by our founding fathers.’

Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan was a Paksitani politician and the first Prime Minister o fPakistan, as well as Defence Minister. He rose to his political stature as a member of the All-India Muslim League, playing an important role in the Partition of India and the creation of Pakistan. He also became the first Prime Minister of the country, holding his position in 1947 up until his assassination in October 1951.

On 16 October 1951, Khan was shot twice and killed during a public meeting of the Muslim City League at Company Bagh (Company Gardens), Rawalpindi[citation needed]. The police immediately shot the presumed assassin who was later identified as Saad Akbar Babrak also known as 'Said Akbar'[citation needed]. Khan was rushed to a hospital and given a blood transfusion, but he succumbed to his injuries. Saad Akbar Babrak was an Afghan national

So? Being a flunkey of Jinnah does not deserve you to earn any title. Jinnah was the man. Not his sister. Not his flunkeys. Not his servants. Not his friends. Hell he even had a daughter. Do we give her credit for being his daughter? Greatness rested with the man ~ not in his shadows.

And I have done sufficient reading to conclude that Liaqat was responsible for Pakistan losing Kashmir as much as Sardar Patel was responsible for Indian gaining Hyderabad State.
