Breaking News - Several people shot outside Empire State Building – reports

At least three people have been shot outside the Empire State Building in Manhattan, New York City, say New York City NYC fire officials. A large police presence is reported at the scene.

*One person has been taken into police custody, reports ABC. That person has possibly been also shot.

The shooting happened near the intersection of 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue around 9:00 am, says CBS 2 broadcaster.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City officials say several people have been shot outside the Empire State Building and that the gunman is dead.

City police say three or four civilians have been wounded in the Friday morning shooting and that the shooter is dead.

A fire department spokesman says it received a call about the shooting just after at 9 a.m. Friday and that emergency units were on the scene within minutes.

The spokesman had no information about how many people were wounded or their conditions.

The shooting occurred at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue.

A suspect was shot and killed by police and four other people were wounded when gunfire erupted Friday morning outside the Empire State Building, cops said.

Details were sketchy, but the shooting started shortly after 9 a.m. on the crowded rush hour sidewalks outside the iconic midtown skyscraper.

A man wanted by police was fatally shot, while four other people were injured before the gunfire stopped. It was unclear if the wounded victims were linked to the dead suspect or innocent bystanders, police said.

Cops were investigating what ignited the shootout on a sunny Manhattan morning at 34th St. and Fifth Ave. — just north of the building’s East Side entrance.

What's with you people and breaking up countries?, I keep reading generally only Pakistani's and Bangladeshi's hoping that such and such country breaks up - is it an inferiority complex to see bigger countries prospering instead of their size and the inability to manage smaller countries successfully OR it's a desire so that one can take on weaker and smaller countries by way of intimidation or birth rate?
