Rs 20 lakh seized from BJP youth leader who backed demonetisation
Arun, BJP youth wing secretary from Salem, Tamil Nadu had been actively campaigning in favour of prime minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation drive and was even ready to stand in queue outside bank. The Indian Express reported that he was arrested by Tamil Nadu Police with several bundles of currency notes worth Rs 20.55 lakh out of which there were 926 pieces of Rs 2,000, 1530 of Rs 100 and 1,000 of Rs 50 notes.
BJP leader arrested in Bengal with Rs 33 lakh in new Rs 2,000 notes
Manish Sharma, BJP leader in West Bengal, was arrested by police while carrying currency worth Rs 33 lakh in new Rs 2,000 notes earlier this week, reported The Times of India. According to a report by livehindustan.com, the police also found seven fire arms, 89 round bullets from them. The police also found new notes of Rs 2,000 worth Rs 10 lakh from Sharma's car. The police also found notes of Rs 50 and Rs 100 from the BJP leader.
Cash worth Rs 91.50 lakh in recalled currency denominations of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 were seized from a vehicle of Maharashtra Minister for Cooperation Subhash Deskhmukh who looks after the cooperative sector, reported Financial Express on 18 November.
On November 9,cash amounting to Rs 3 crore was recovered from the car of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Ghaziabad.
