Sena dares govt to capture Dawood in Osama-like operation

MUMBAI: Taking a swipe at the Centre following release of a tape claiming Dawood Ibrahim's presence in Karachi, Shiv Sena on Monday dared the government to undertake an operation to capture the evasive underworld don just as US forces eliminated terror leader Osama Bin Laden.

Sena, a constituent of ruling NDA, questioned the point of following Dawood's movements without initiating action against him.

"Dreaded terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Dawood Ibrahim are living in Pakistan comfortably and are under political care. We do not need proof to prove that fact. No other country except Pakistan can give abode to such people," Sena said in its editorial mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

"From the last many years, we have been requesting the Pakistan government to hand us over these fugitive gangsters, but they refuse to even acknowledge the presence of their their territory. But can the Indian government show the same audacity towards Dawood Ibrahim, the way US did with (Osama Bin) Laden ?" the Sena asked.

Government had on Saturday asked Pakistan to hand over Dawood Ibrahim, saying the Indian government has given enough evidence against him to Islamabad.

The Sena said the "watching game" between India and terrorists hiding in Pakistan will continue unabated and will yield no results.

"Our government says it is keeping a watch on their activities? What purpose will it serve? These terrorists have kept their eye on India as well. This watching game has been happening for many years and will continue in future," it said.

In Lucknow, home minister Rajnath Singh said India has repeatedly asked Pakistan to hand over Dawood to it.

"Wait and Watch," Singh had said without elaborating, when asked about when India can get hold of him.

Dawood, India's most wanted terrorist after Saeed, is the mastermind of the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai that claimed over 250 lives.

You need to understand nuclear weapons are not diwali crackers that we drop them just like that...secondly if Pakistan is not gonna do anything about Indian centric terrorist then there is already enough spark sitting right there to explode...so we may not need to wait for an OSB type operation ...

I'll answer that for him: No.

If reports suggesting the presence of both the individuals in either Khi or Isb are correct, India would have to be abysmally short-sighted to ponder the likelihood of success for such a daring raid.

Simply put, India does not have the technological superiority or the military prowess of the United States.

The US employed 11 different aerial platforms to stunt the response of Pakistan's air defense, in an operation, which is easily the most magnificent display of phenomenal mission control and pragmatism.

The electronic assets used in Operation Neptune's Spear far surpass the conventional capabilities of both Pakistan and India combined. For India, unfortunately, its limited capabilities vis-a-vis Pakistan are a significant impediment to realizing the implausible suppositions of its politicians, the very suppositions which its masses readily swallow - hook, line and sinker.

Its easier said, than done.

The way I see it, the only way India can achieve Sena's stated objective is is by continuing its covert search for the two individuals, through its double-agents, and possibly attempt an assassination by whatever means available to them - that is if they can find them. A OBL kind of raid is not possible. But, India can send a team of mercenaries (either from India or friendly elements within TTP, BLA) to take him out.

Since Dawood doesn't reside in Pakistan, India will have plausible deniability if they are caught.
