Semiconductor industry: A new possibility for Bangladesh

As I said before, the Hi Tech park websites are anything but "Hi Tech". These guys need to seriously upgrade the site.

ASML in Holland produces Extreme Ultraviolet lithography machines, which the US will prevent the Chinese to get hands on. ASML has complete monopoly over this. But when it comes to DUV lithography machines, there are alternatives.

In any case, this is not our concern at this time since these are required for fabrication. Bangladeshi companies won't be in that space for at least next 15-20 years.
The website has Sajeeb Wazed Joy as the honorable advisor. What the heck has he been doing ?
He is in a position to do a lot of good things for this budding industry.

Actually China is making progress faster than thought.

Huawei has already sent a request for patent for it's own EUV technology. It will take some years before it is fabricating chips using this process but it shows the Chinese are able to bit by bit source all the technology of designing and manufacturing semiconductors all by themselves.

I think by 2030 China will have its own independent eco-system in competition to the West.

Western dominance will only be broken when it loses 3/5 of the below:

1. Monopoly on semiconductor
2. Monopoly on computer operating systems
3. Oil trade in dollar
4. Aerospace engines for large commercial aircrafts
5. Higher education

East is competitive on the rest.

Japan at its height could not penetrate any of the above.

U.K. is a world leader on the above.

Agreed.

India is only now seriously investing in fab after years of involvement in design. They earn 60 billion annually through design alone if I am not mistaken.

We need to follow what Indians have done in terms of gaining experience through chip design and make an entry into the industry. In 15-20 years time if everything goes according to plan, it is very possible for Bangladeshi companies to invest in fabrication too.

For Walton this is a cost benefit future analysis, they are marching towards economies of scale., becoming a global brand. They have already bought the renowned Italian appliance and component manufacturer including tot.

Now they are designing their own chips , no royalty or patent fees. Secondly if they get a new design patented , this could do 2 things give them an edge, also royalty fees.

With this accumulation they will or may eventually produce domestically.

@UKBengali do you remember when the BNP trolls used to mock you for “bigging” up Walton 🤣🤣😂😂

They aren’t laughing now, are they?

Walton has kind of even surprised me with the progress it has made in it's own design and fabrication technologies.

Only a year ago, it was having to import it's own 4K display panels for it's 4K TVs but now it designs and manufactures multiple LCD displays for a range of 4K TVs it offers. They have so much faith in the quality of these displays that they even offer a 5 year guarantee on them!

There is a good chance that the growth in Walton that we saw over the last decade(5x increase in revenue) will be exceeded this decade due to both projected faster growth in the domestic BD market and also the fact that exports are rising even faster.

I thought that Walton's ambitions to be in the world's top 5 electronics manufacturers by 2030 was too optimistic but I think they could possibly reach that level if they carry on with their excellent management and direction of the company they have been doing so far.

As for the trolls, let them have had their fun as they are talking about stuff way beyond their limited minds can comprehend. It is a reflection of the sad reality that S Asia has been an economic failure since independence due to poor governance in India and Pakistan. BD is showing that it is different and even India is doing ok now.

Agree and let's hope they succeed for sake of Bangladesh In Sha Allah. The same reason Samsung went into this space as I understand. Complete integration and no external dependence on chip production.

Being self sufficient in components means Walton should benefit from the taka devaluation.

Its competitors, mostly assemble so, will suffer most.

That’s another unexpected boon for Walton.

Are you saying Walton has enough money to set up semiconductor fab facility?
A fab is a bad idea to get started. Far more feasible is to start fabless and then grow from there. A fab is a money pit with no guaranty of success. It only makes sense when there is 10's of billions of excess liquidity.

You exposed your true nationality when you started mocking at the slightest possibility that Bangladesh could even be in the semiconductor industry. We can all see how much you care about Bangladesh. Your knowledge on Bangladesh is same as my knowledge on Uganda.

Since you don't have anything to contribute on topic, don't pollute the thread with your off topic nonsense.

That and the "Ha-Ha" react on every post is a dead give-away that this idiot is a bhakt.

He is in a position to do a lot of good things for this budding industry.

Just a figure-head post created to appease Hasina.

He hasn't done jack really, even stateside.

What he should have done is attract investments from US tech companies and get at least outsourcing balls rolling using his Bharati friends.

Just zilch and zero on both counts.

Bhakt idiots won't do anything. They only take, never give.

For outsourcing you need various ISO certifications and security clearances.

ISO certifications are extremely expensive and security clearance is a no starter given BD infrastructure.

Start small by subtracting low level work from the likes of TCS and Infy. But India will not allow that without a comprehensive trade pact. WHICH YOU LOT OPPOSE!!!

But BAL will sign the trade pact - paving the way for the likes of TCS to subcontract work.

BD has a heavy focus on improving it's IT infrastructure and so getting a chunk of the outsourcing market is a realistic possibility in the latter part of this decade.

It opened a Tier 4 datacentre in 2019 in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City which is the 7th largest in the world at the start of 2022.

The chips are slowly falling into place and so ignore the trolls who want instant gratification.

PS - Joy has led the "Digital BD' initiatice which has increased IT exports by an average of 35% of year since 2009 and so he has been doing things.

I think it is the 4th largest in category. I remember this

Stop commenting on topics you know little about.

There are plenty of indiots who will run you through ISO certifications for a few thousand rupees.

Quite a few Bangladeshi businesses (even small ones) have ISO certs, mostly ISO9001 Quality certs.

They can pass other ISO regimes - only a question of documentation.

If Indian half-a$$ one man orgs can get ISO certs and security clearances, so can Bangladeshi ones.

Another post which clearly proves you don't have any clue about Bangladesh.

Yeah right, chips will "keep falling in place" for a thousand years while Indians control Bangladesh.

Uneducated false-flagger idiots commenting on IT like they know anything.
