Self-Centred India

Please stop access water in rivers for time being coming from India. Biggest help from India

please ask your own punjab province to open the flood canals that were created.....news is that they are still closed......

we are having floods in leh ......we cannot stop water ...what do you think we do with that water....flood our own nation?

be sensible before stating anything......

our dams are designed only for power generation rather than for storing water-again if we build a dam that can store water your nation will go crying to international court citing indus water treaty......its either you should have allowed us to build dams or you should have built dams for storing water.....the fault lies with pakistan....

your nation always complains that india is blocking water when even it knows that the design the dams built and that those designs allow only power generation than water storage...and your nation wont build dams for your own water security and when floods hit you have the audacity to put even "excess water" blame on india? that is the most shameful thing anyone can do......(we dont have enough water ...what the fk blame india: we have floods wtf blame india)

No offence ..but why are my fellow Indians being so apologetic about being self-centred.

it is one of the best things a country can have...a self centred approach...doing what is in the best interests of the country and that country alone.

So no need to be ashamed..every man to his country.and we to India.

its just the fact wher title says "india is self centered" but the article discription considers india to be selfish.....

there is a lot of difference between being selfish and self centered.....

i still dont understand one thing one group of pakistanis are argung that india is selfish in not providing aid while another group is against india offering aid to pakistan ,the lattrer consider india to be showing off when we give aid

we have offered our help.its for you guys to decide if you want it or not.....either way we are least bothered since its your own call

Even their PM doesnt care about floods and was having a foreign tour.

And i would be very happy if we become self-centred.No need to become another USA.

We have our poor people to look after also...first sort out your own problems then think about anyone else.

During pakistans earthquake, India had made considerable cash contribution to Pakistan's relief efforts, but Pakistan never used it. Pakistanis even removed the Indian labels of the tents and food grain bags that India sent to them, before giving them away to needy people. They do not want to let their people know that India is not as bad as they think. They are so much filled with venemous hate for India that they make such gestures even during times of misery. As they say here, "Zindagi Jhand hai phir bhi Ghamand hai". We cant do much in such case. Still we have given 5 million USD as aid, because we are good people.

So india has done a reality check and acted appropriately.

Let the people of pakistan know that people of india are with them to help,.
let the hard core anti india elements do the cry(of rejection), it will help us any way and the people of pakistan too.

Self-Centred India

India’s nouveau riche are often, sadly, self-centred braggers who enjoy flaunting their wealth. It’s a reflection of a more general trend in India—as it grows and its wealth increases rapidly, it’s also becoming increasingly self-centred as a nation, lost in its own world and not bothering about its responsibilities and moral duty towards its neighbours, even when they’re in crisis.

Pakistan, for example, is facing its worst floods in living memory and the international media is full of stories of the large-scale devastation and massive death toll in flood affected parts of North West Frontier Province, Punjab and Sindh. Millions of lives have been affected by this epic natural disaster.

But while the international community and aid agencies pump aid to those affected, neighbouring India seems to be aloof and blind to the tragedy affecting Pakistan—I’ve yet (at the time of writing) to hear of any aid package for the victims from the Indian government. Meanwhile, the Indian media is barely giving the disaster the time of day, with news channels instead full of stories on the corruption wracking the Commonwealth Games.

Compare this with the United States and other Western nations, which are trying to mobilize resources domestically and internationally to assist the victims. This is obviously good politics—the Obama administration wants to win the trust of a Pakistani public that often sees the United States as working against their interests.

But as an immediate neighbour, India should also try winning the hearts and minds of the Pakistani people. As the largest country in South Asia, India needs to demonstrate big heartedness towards its smaller neighbour. After all, good ties with the neighbours will be a prerequisite if this country of a billion people wants to claim a leading position on the international stage.

The comfort of having a bit more money has made India an international conformist that doesn’t want to take risks. It’s an ironic contrast with the country’s pre-liberalization days, when a poor India was a leader of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Whoever has written this article, if an Indian has abused his right to free speech. The fool doesn't realise tht the "world community" doesn't have Pakistan as a nuclear armed threat to them sitting on their borders.

If this clown feels so much for Pakistan, then why can't he cancel his Indian passport, empty his bank accounts and move to Pakistan? We don't need such blood-traitor losers in India. Apologist jerks who only know to hog attention and not do anything writing pathetic, attention-seeking articles.

If this idiot had brains and heart of an Indian, he'd be cursing the Indian rich for not contributing to Leh flood victims. F cuking traitor. Such traitors who abuse India's freedom of speech are the first to become fence-sitters and even go against India. They deserve to be expelled from the country and continue their bullshit among India's enemies where they find a safe Haven.

I was about to raise the point of Leh myself. Our citizens, our brothers and sisters, died in Leh. If this article had talked of indian rich being self-centered in regard to helping people in Leh, it would have been very accurate. the author doesnt even mention the problems we have in our country. The author is just some idiot looking to score some brownie points by being 'the unselfish hero'.

I was all for helping the people of Pakistan, but to see them humiliate us by saying they don't need our aid. And some even raised the issue of poverty in India. Well thats enough to convince me who is being self-centered here.

Why should we waste hard-earned money helping people who dont even want it. worse, it might be misdirected into swiss banks or jihadi camps. No we are better off helping our people, or atleast those who appreciate our help
