Security forces raid hotels in North Waziristan, kill 6 suspected militants

MIRANSHAH: At least six suspected militants were killed and 12 others were wounded Thursday when armed forces raided two hotels in North Waziristan, officials said.

The raids were conducted in Mirali area, a day after a suicide attack on a military checkpointwhich killed at least five soldiers and wounded 34 others.

Ansarul Mujahideen, a little-known militant group linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the suicide attack.

“Security forces raided two hotels in the area close to the site of the suicide bombing and intense gun battles left six suspected militants dead and 12 others wounded,” a local security official told AFP.

Troops cordoned off the area and were carrying out a search operation to hunt down militants involved in the truck suicide bombing, he added.

Local intelligence officials confirmed the raids and casualties.

Raza Wazir a local from Mir Ali describes the situation:

A few minutes ago succeeded in speaking with my family members in Mirali area, our hometown in North Waziristan. According to them the shelling of the villages of Mussaki, Ipi and Haiderkhel is going on and several people are reported to be dead. Thousands of people are fleeing the area due to the indiscriminate shelling to the adjacent villages. At the time of the call, several guests from the said villages were there in our home and other houses in the area.
Although this indiscriminate and brazen attack is there going on ,no one in the mainstream, whether politics or media will pay attention as it does not suit their agenda and Waziristan did not have a huge vote bank.

DAWN says that a Army convoy (which was coming back from the yesterday's attack site) was attacked by militants and PA repelled the attack and killed the militants.

The hotel incident was a selective raid from I gather.

Govt. and Army should control the flow of information and give a definite statement.

They should ask all the officials to not say anything other than state mentioned stand.

Otherwise confusion may create and considering fragile state of people's mindset because of constant terrorist attacks and other problems, backlash can happen by minor spark.
Right now, people of Pakistan and all the Pakistani members of PDF should diffuse the information to all the people that don't believe in anything unless its reported by govt. and Army sources.

Media should act responsible now. If you don't trust media, use social media.

Wrong information or rumor can be far more disastrous than information of whatever happened.

One can take example of Indian riots due to fake pictures that were circulated on online media.

Lives of innocent may be endangered due to confusion or rumor.
