RAWALPINDI, May 28 (APP): Secretary Defence, Lt. Gen (Retd) Asif Yasin Malik said Tuesday there was a tangible potential for enhancing military and defence production cooperation between Pakistan and Spain. This was stated by him in a meeting with Ambassador of Spain, Javier Carbajosa Sanchez, here in the Ministry of Defence.
Pakistan and Spain enjoy warm and friendly bilateral relations, he said adding, Islamabad greatly valued this relationship. He vowed to expand bilateral ties in the area of defence.
Malik said in the past, exchange of visits of high level between two countries took place to endorse the importance of bilateral relations and to explore the areas of cooperation in the field of defence.
During the meeting, Ambassador of Spain, Javier Carbajosa Sanchez stressed that Spain attached great importance to its longstanding relations with Pakistan and would like to work towards enhancing these relations for mutual benefit.
He said that the signing of Protocol on Defence Cooperation and Military Cooperation in near future will provide a sound base for enhancing defence ties between the two countries.
The visiting dignitary also lauded the efforts of the Government of Pakistan for conduct of land mark general elections.
