Yeah I agree. While Kalam was no doubt among the most loved Indian Presidents, no one with the exception of Dr.Rajendra Prasad has ever served a second term & I see no real reason to start a unhealthy practice. Being President of India is a honour & no one must simply break with tradition merely because it serves political point scoring at any given moment.

In the contesting people, Dr. Kalam stands miles above other average folks or most clowns. After the terrible drop in presidential standards with the arrival of this stupid female Patil, the country seriously needs Dr.Kalam to restore the worth of President's position.

And I wish that President is actually given some reasonable powers. At least as an authoritative Supreme Commander of Armed Forces, if not direct head of state position. Dr. Kalam would fill this designation and this authority wonderfully.

In current situation, president is only a ceremonial position in our country which is a waste of money.

I agree to your point. I think proposing Dr Kalam does not add any value again. He is already respected above all these politicians.NOthig more to achieve for him. I feel i like Dr Ansari as a suitable choice as he and his familly will be perfect image for an Indian Muslim face to the outside world.
