ISLAMABAD: The government has notified that no Indian movie will be screened during the period of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha in the country.

The notification in this connection was released by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on May 24.

The notification states that “in order to revive and promote the local film industry in Pakistan, the Federal government has decided to put a limited restriction on exhibition/screening of Indian films”

“The restriction shall remain in force for two days before and two weeks after Eid days.” It further adds.

The importers/ distributors of the foreign films have been directed to restrain from the screening of Indian films in cinema houses all over the country during the above mentioned time period.

Following this temporary restriction, the big Bollywood Eid releases like Salman Khan’s Race 3 and Aishwarya Rai‘s Fanney Khan will face a delay in its screening in Pakistani cinemas.

The restriction can possibly be the outcome of the previous protests held by Pakistan’s entertainers against the excessive screening of foreign content on Pakistan’s TV channels and cinemas.

Pakistan should not make such restrictions temporary

It should make a policy on screening or not screening Bollywood movies.

Pakistani film industry will be better off if Indian movies shown are heavily taxed and funds thus generated are used to boost local industry

And why would you not put a complete ban on these filthy movies of a very filthy eternal enemy? It is very shameful and disgusting to allow these movies to screen anywhere in Pakistan.
Exactly!! Should have banned them entirely and permanently.

Why not on Hollywood or other international film industry?

Do not you watch international movies?

What Kind of a weak azz Argument is this.

Its merciful of them to think 3 months relief to the indigenous industry can magically revive it.

Drunk Teenagers speeding the wrong way have Better solutions than this.

Fukk you government

Yeah, there should be a complete ban on Indian films. To reach any maturity level, Pakistani film industry requires time and space, and that wont happen if Indian content keeps on getting a free pass to our screens, not to mention that they don't even allow our muscians, but we are letting their industry dent our's. Hopefully with Nawazo's political demise such pro-Pakistani policies will become a norm.
