Banning bollywood is tough in pakistan, though done before and later lifted as of huge losses for film exhibitors, as they already invested heavily and depends more on bollywood films in a year, than few clicks in pakistan film industry.Yeah, there should be a complete ban on Indian films. To reach any maturity level, Pakistani film industry requires time and space, and that wont happen if Indian content keeps on getting a free pass to our screens, not to mention that they don't even allow our muscians, but we are letting their industry dent our's. Hopefully with Nawazo's political demise such pro-Pakistani policies will become a norm.

Why is it that your govt. vacillates from total ban to partial showing?? To be indecisive only shows that too many players don't want this to happen. What your industry needs is good scripts and imaginative directors. You have plenty of talent and good looking people. Just saying we are enemy is not going to alter the trend of movie going public. You come up with better movie and these filthy enemy movies will fall by wayside. And why would you not put a complete ban on these filthy movies of a very filthy eternal enemy? It is very shameful and disgusting to allow these movies to screen anywhere in Pakistan.
Any good Pakistani movie worth watching? Have seen WAAR it was nice, any other good Pakistani movie thats worth spending couple of hours? It should be a collective move by Court , Channels , Distributors and people .. stop wasting money of garbage material and cheap India Comedy .. rather go watch Pakistani movies

How many successfull films in pakistan film industry, 1 or 2 in a year and exhibitors cannot survive 1 or 2 in a year?
The highest was 5 million dollar on worldwide revenue vs 330 and 270 million dollar for Dangal and Bahubeli films.
I think that deserves a honest answer even if it is going tickle some people. You know how you have two personalities in one person like schizophrenia well Pakstan is worse. It has a Sindhi face, a Balochi face, a Pakhtun face, a putative Punjabi face [I say putative because it has mostly been "Hindustansized" over the preceding seven decades] and then the Urdu face who like to peddle it as the "Muslim" face when actually it's just a Indian face. The latter group exert far, far greater influence then their numbers - problaby below 5% and mostly in Karachi or urban Sindh.vacillates from total ban to partial showing?
It will take time, but people are free to waste their money on where ever they chose ..
The last time the ban was lifted it was solely one man's decision, but now a lot has changed since then, that man himself got banned and Bollywood lost another voice when India banned the Pakistani artists, who at this stage are the domininant force calling for the reciprocal restictions on Indian content. Pakistani film industry is relatively new and it would take for it some time to create fan base, but let there be no doubt's that it wont happen.Banning bollywood is tough in pakistan, though done before and later lifted as of huge losses for film exhibitors, as they already invested heavily and depends more on bollywood films in a year, than few clicks in pakistan film industry.

ISLAMABAD: The government has notified that no Indian movie will be screened during the period of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha in the country.
The notification in this connection was released by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on May 24.
The notification states that “in order to revive and promote the local film industry in Pakistan, the Federal government has decided to put a limited restriction on exhibition/screening of Indian films”
“The restriction shall remain in force for two days before and two weeks after Eid days.” It further adds.
The importers/ distributors of the foreign films have been directed to restrain from the screening of Indian films in cinema houses all over the country during the above mentioned time period.
Following this temporary restriction, the big Bollywood Eid releases like Salman Khan’s Race 3 and Aishwarya Rai‘s Fanney Khan will face a delay in its screening in Pakistani cinemas.
The restriction can possibly be the outcome of the previous protests held by Pakistan’s entertainers against the excessive screening of foreign content on Pakistan’s TV channels and cinemas.
Bollywood is largely articulated from the same stream so there is this dichotomy you see. Fact is Bollywood now runs through the veins of most of Pakistan. So when they get angry there is this knee jerk reaction but then the yearning for Bollywood sets in and .....
my honest opinion on the issue is every type of competition is good competition as it will help our industry grow and make it more competitive.i know many won't agree with me here but you have to show people what they want for the screens to make profit.as the numbers show people aren't into hollywood stuff as much as they are into bollywood so that leaves us with 2 optionBanning bollywood is tough in pakistan, though done before and later lifted as of huge losses for film exhibitors, as they already invested heavily and depends more on bollywood films in a year, than few clicks in pakistan film industry.
