SCO to hold joint military exercise in Tajikistan

China says member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will hold a joint military exercise in Tajikistan from June 8th to the 14th. Over 2000 soldiers will take part in"Peace Mission 2012" with the aim of improving joint counter terrorism capabilities and enhancing strategic trust.

Yang Yujun, Spokesman of Ministry of National Defense, said, "The joint military exercise under the framework of the SCO has always taken counter terrorism as its core mission. After eight joint military drills over the past decade, the exercise has a much larger scale today. The joint mission has helped strengthen defense cooperation and enhanced strategic mutual trust among SCO member states and played a positive role in maintaining regional peace and stability."
