SCMP Video: Singapore begins national Covid-19 vaccination programme [using Pfizer-BioNTech]

That's the point

This stands to reason Singapore stands with USA and company like Japan. Lot of counries like UAE, Brazil and your Neighbor already approve the vaccine. And Singapore can also return sinovac back to China getting the money back.

Are we the UAE, Brazil, or Indonesia?

Unlike them, we have 0-1 local cases everyday on average, and we already have access to Pfizer and Moderna which reportedly have higher efficacies. More vaccines are under evaluation.

In other words, we're not desperate to approve Sinovac and we can afford to wait for Sinovac to submit the necessary information for evaluation purposes. We do our own scientific due diligence and assessment.

It's a similar situation here in New Zealand, we have enough Pfizer vaccine on order for our entire population over the next four months, with Moderna and J and J as back ups. Sinovac and any other vaccine without available data will not be procured by our ministry of health.

With our strict border controls and low case rate we have been able to be patient and wait for the best vaccines.

I think Sinovac can still play a role in plugging the gap in our vaccination drive.

Some may not be compatible with Pfizer/Moderna, or some may have doubts on mRNA vaccines. Sinovac can play a role here. Some level of protection will still be better than no protection for that minority.

Subjected to approval of course.

The majority of our population will likely be inoculated with Pfizer/Moderna vaccines.

That's rubbish, Pfizer and Moderna higher efficiencies is based on the company's reports instead of using other studies to check it out. The fact they are willing to use that instead of waiting tell me that Singapore is in league with USA from the start.

There is available data from the likes of Turkey and Brazil

Your citizens isn't allows to chose which vaccine they want to take so basically you are forcing them to take Pfizer/Moderna even if they don't to. Sinovac is just a PR stunt to say Singapore is non align while it's not.

They're already tested and proven in many countries. Point is, we're not desperate. No point comparing us to Brazil or Indonesia.

Politicizing vaccines just because we haven't approve Sinovac lmao. Just because it comes from China, we must approve ASAP without Sinovac even submitting the full information for evaluation?

You can choose your vaccines depending on where you choose to be inoculated. The news do report which vaccine will be available in which vaccination center, so you can do your own research before booking the location.

HSA begins review of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine for use in Singapore, asks Chinese firm for more data

SINGAPORE — Singapore has begun reviewing data on the Covid-19 vaccine from China’s Sinovac, and has asked for more information from the biopharmaceutical company, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said.

In response to TODAY’s queries on Saturday (March 20), HSA added that it is waiting for the company to submit the data.

The extra data is needed to assess if the vaccine “can meet the required standards for quality, safety and efficacy for interim authorisation under the Pandemic Special Access Route”, the authority said.

The Pandemic Special Access Route facilitates early access to critical novel vaccines, medicines and medical devices during a pandemic. Companies can only apply to HSA using this route for designated health products that the Government of Singapore requires during a pandemic.

Singapore received its first shipment of the Sinovac vaccine on Feb 23, but it has not yet been authorised for use here.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said during an interview with news outlet BBC’s Talking Business Asia programme that the Chinese-made vaccine will be used in Singapore if it is proven to be safe and effective.

“We use vaccines from any source, vaccines do not carry nationality,” he said, adding that China has very capable scientists, biomedical researchers and vaccine researchers.

HSA told TODAY that it is in talks with various companies — including British-Swedish firm AstraZeneca — on their submission plans for coronavirus vaccines.

Over the past few weeks, numerous countries temporarily suspended roll-outs of AstraZeneca’s vaccine as a precautionary measure following isolated reports of blood clots in recipients.

The drugmaker and the World Health Organization have maintained there is no evidence that the cases were caused by the vaccine, and several countries have since resumed their use of the AstraZeneca shot.

HSA added that it rigorously evaluates all vaccines on their quality, safety and efficacy before they are approved for use here.

Why not take FDA report into consideration, normalized and benchmark against Sinovac, as Sinovac was put to test by Brazil in draconian condition. This would put Pfizer efficacy at 19%. Why was PAP keep harping 95% Pfizer and 50% for Sinovac.

According to FDA’s report on Pfizer’s vaccine, there were “3410 total cases of suspected, but unconfirmed covid-19 in the overall study population, 1594 occurred in the vaccine group vs. 1816 in the placebo group.”

With 20 times more suspected than confirmed cases, this category of disease cannot be ignored simply because there was no positive PCR test result. Indeed this makes it all the more urgent to understand. A rough estimate of vaccine efficacy against developing covid-19 symptoms, with or without a positive PCR test result, would be a relative risk reduction of 19%

Have GOS examine Pfizer as well as 24 hours death and announce it with loudspeaker? Today there are thousands of cases.

Have pfizer submitted all their raw data and have Singapore examine them? These raw data will blow up into the faces.

You probably cannot understand how Pfizer 95% come from or if you could you are lying in lock step with Singapore government.

Basically Pfizer got 170 covid out of 43611 volunteer. 8 got vaccine and 162 got placeabo. Thats how 95% come about.

But Pfizer dump all the quasi-covid symtom sufferers away, too afraid to conduct proper diagnostic. In total 1594: 1816 = vaccine : placeabo.

In short, Pfizer is useless.

GoS is spreading mis-information.

LOOK at FDA, and Leong Hoe Nam should get fired.
