Science Confirms Selfies Are Linked To Mental Disorders

It was lion speaking, not me :disagree: I'm AGAINST humans hunting animals but don't you think apex predators are supposed to be hunters....naturally

LOL sorry i think i missed something , feeling silly now , wait i will edit my post

.
he took the movie too seriously

i think the premise of the film is meant to make people take stock of their participation in mindless social media activities.

Why exactly do men spend so much time infront of the mirror??
They would look into every mirror and car's glass windows just to check...what?...their hairs

yes, i for one check if my hair-style is spoilt... if so and when possible, i make haste to the nearest eatery to use their facilities and set my hair.

occassionally, not too often, not too eagerly, i look in those glasses to admire myself. :ashamed:

My experience is opposite. :agree:

let's do a experiment... for some days, when you go out, don't use your cell... what say?? :D

hahaha
@Armstrong jamahir is jealous of you:flame:
Dont you worry jamahir, my lil bro is a harmless cat. :)

there is only one cat on pdf... jamahir !!! ::D

I was talking about the western countries.

oh...

I can very proudly say that my himachali friend is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.

gets better and better. :D

But she's short. :tsk:
Nobody is perfect I guess.

umm... that is no issue for her, i presume.

(I remember the first time I met her in a party, almost everyone was looking at her as she entered :-) ).

that happens with me too, on a rare occassion or two. :D

alas, she and me...

All the iphone users love taking selfies (its based on case studies, @Atanz and myself  ).

Every day come sunshine, rain or snow I walk four to five miles at max speed in my local park. I would love to have people accompany me but nobody wants to join me so I am left with my own company and my phone. That's when I end up clicking. Of course sometimes if my kids are with me I take their pics as well. I am quite a sentimental person and a pic captures a moment in time forever that you can savour in later years ...

I don't really care for all these studies. Human beings are too complex and you can't box them into neat categories ...

The macho man syndrome, tough outside and soft inside.
It's okay to be sentimental and it's okay to click selfies.:)
I still feel that scientists with inferiority complex about their looks, come up with such theories about selfies.

Are you saying I'm uglyo_O.

...

It's a valid theory to study. Is there a link between Narcissism (or other mental illnesses such as depression, which could account for a need to gain approval from others. Sociopathy too.) and selfies? I can't make that determination yet, but I do know that Narcissist are prone to acts of vanity, maybe there is a link? I can't make that determination right now, I need to study further.

I still wouldn't classify all "selfie-ists" as Narcissistic though. Not everyone is taking self-portraits to gain other's approval, some just do it for fun or to share their experiences with people they know.

Those that share them with people they don't know, or are doing so for approval only are the ones I'd look at more closely.

Narcissists??
I think it's perfectly fine to click selfies. Most of the ppl click selfies when they think they're looking their best. And that's perfectly fine in my POV. :)

 kidding!

Kidding:o:? Have you seen me:what:.

I look a bit like this:

Add some facial hair and bingo!

:partay:

Narcissists??

Just positing on the mental illness aspect of the OP. Sorry, that was meant as a generalist statement, not a direct quote.

:bunny:

:partay:

Yes, that is definitely what I was thinking too.

But given the amount of "duck face" I've seen, I'm not sure the hypothesis holds up to further examination. But again, perhaps I'm just prone to viewing excessive amounts of "duck face?"

I think people are reading way too much into this. It does not mean anything. If you think enough of any human act you can make a drama out of it. I think if you spend two hours getting ready, put on two inches of make up, dress up, then make stupid faces maybe, just maybe you might read something into it.

Me I just wack em, mostly not even shaved. I can't give you amy big reason why I clicked any more then why I turned left along the route I walked today ...

I am very visual and like to see the other person although I can understand now why most people don't do it. I put pictures of my family and now I actually regret it because of what some sickos have done but still ...

Wrong title. Science has got nothing to do with what people call "mental disorders". Whole psychiatry and psychology are non-scientific mumbo jumbo.

Really? And what about Neurology?

Chronic Schizophrenia | Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory

Schizophrenia

Neurology helping to assess a persons mental condition... huh, image that? I thought science didn't do that kind of thing?

psychiatry

Psychiatry also includes pharmacology, any opinion on that either? It's chemistry, isn't that a science?

Thats what i am saying. Science deals with the empirical not the non-empirical. In science there is problem with the brain if we can see it in the brain scans, we cant say there is some brain problem if a person didnt eat the apple the right way. Thats not science.
