Schoolboy shoots himself to ‘attract’ girl

LAHORE - A schoolboy shot at and wounded himself to ‘attract a girl’ in Barki police precincts on Thursday. Teenage Haider was rushed to the Services Hospital, where his condition was reported to be serious.
Police said that the boy shot himself in the shoulder in the classroom of the National School for Education.
He was shifted to the Services Hospital by an Edhi ambulance.
A teacher told the investigators that Haider did this to inspire one of his classfellows.
Other students were shocked over the shooting. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
KILLED: A 30-year-old man, unidentified so far, was killed when a rashly-driven vehicle ran over him in Baghbanpura on Thursday. The man was crossing the GT Road when he died in the road mishap. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
ROBBERY BID FOILED: Bandits shot at and wounded a man on offering resistance during a road robbery attempt in Gulberg police precincts on Thursday.
Amir Khan, said to be an accountant at a private firm, was on his way home when two motorcyclists stopped him at gunpoint in T-block. As he tried to put up resistance, they opened straight fire at him and fled on their two-wheeler. The injured was rushed to a local hospital. The police have registered the case and are investigating.

On the directions DIG (operations) Dr Haider Ashraf search operations are underway across the provincial metropolis where 49 more suspected persons were detained on Thursday.
A police spokesperson said that the suspects including some Afghan nationals were taken into custody as they failed to produce identity papers during door-to-door searches launched in different parts of the Lahore.
The police are conducting security sweep under supervision of the divisional SPs.
Lahore police checked 5774 persons and detained 49 suspects on Thursday. The police also booked 31 persons for violating the ban on loudspeakers.
Haider Ashraf has also directed the policemen to forcefully implement National Action Plan and take strict action against the violators.
