Two rail connections from North-East India, I knew about only one.

What happens if Myanmar decides to shut you guys out? Given the improvement in US-Myanmar relationship, thats a possibility.

No one would be as dumb as an Indian, so as to "shut" its historical suzerain out. By doing so, you're making an enemy of China without necessarily gaining the favor of the US.

Hasn't India learned from 1962? Just because the Soviets and Americans paid lip service, it doesn't mean they'll come to your rescue when the Chinese whoop you.

Burmese fortunately, aren't as dumb.

China's rail link to hit Indian exports

Saibal Dasgupta, TNN Aug 27, 2012

BEIJING: The $707 million Yuxi-Mengzi rail line, linking Kunming in southwest China to Singapore in southeast Asia, will become operational by the end of this year, posing a threat to Indian exporters competing for market space with China. The rail line, originating in China's Yunnan province, will traverse through Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Singapore, completing a course of over 2,000km.

The announcement comes just before Chinese commerce minister Chen Deming meets his Indian counterpart Anand Sharma at the joint economic group on August 27 in New Delhi.

China also plans to build rail routes linking Kunming to Myanmar and, eventually, Bangladesh. On completion, it will create a grand alliance of Asian markets supporting each other, while expanding China's markets. The line will provide an impetus to trade which has slumped due to cancellation of purchase contracts by recession hit West.

Wakey wakey, this is not 1962! India today is in a much strongdr position to defend itself so don't worry about India.

Coming back to the topic, there is rising resentment in Myanmar against the Chinese. The Burmese people don't believe in any chinese suzerainty or any other suzerainty for that matter. They have already booted china out of multi billion dollar projects.

The United states will be more than happy to stand with Myanmar against the Chinese. Think about the strategic significance of US military presence in Myanmar. So its best for China to kowtow the Burmese line, antagonizing them, or trying to boss them around will be counter productive.

It doesn't matter if it's not 1962. Indians as proven by history, cannot defeat another major foreign nation.

Multi billion dollar projects? Why is there a plural? The hydro dam project was the only major project cancelled due to severe environmental concerns. Even then, only a portion of the dam project was suspended, while others continued. Don't bs when you have nothing to back it up.

US military presence in Myanmar? Under which tree did you pull that from? Unlike India, which had British presence on its soil for centuries, the military junta regime, still controlling half of parliament is extremely pro-China. It will take an entire generation for those dictators to die off.

Even then, the only Southeast Asian nation that allows Western military presence is the Philippines. No country wants another's military in them. I think the Indian mentality for foreign dominance over their own country, is blurring your judgement. (not that Indian IQ allows accurate judgements in the first place)

Well said man, talk about rising resentment, India should take a look at the mirror before speak, you guys have controlled Bhutan for decades from economy to military, they're fed up to take order from Indian gorverment and want to have China s counter-weight as Nepal...We chinese is looking forward that day come to establish diplomatic relation with them...and you can kiss goodbye to use Bhutan as potential ally against China...you will feel even more vunerable for your chicken neck section.

The next day Palit was shown a draft from Jawaharlal Nehru to President
Kennedy, asking for 12 squadrons of F-104 fighters and two squadrons of B-
57 bombers. These would be manned by Americans. They would defend Indian
cities until Indian personnel had been trained. The IAF personnel would handle
all action beyond Indian frontiers. The IAF personnel would also require
American training to man the B-57 bombers required to attack the Chinese
mainland.22

On November 20, the planning group at the US Embassy in New Delhi
decided that about 12 C-130 transport aircraft would be sent in as soon as
possible. The Seventh Fleet would be asked to steam into the Bay of Bengal.
The airlift already underway would be intensified.

Burmese fortunately, aren't as dumb.

Compared to you certainly not

Can someone tell me about Houqiao(China)-Lumding(India) rail line, never heard of it before.

Liar!

Travancore

Dutch were defeated in the Travencore-Dutch war

Besides only retarded fool would consider the above of any remote relevance in present day situation.

Ok!

Partially true!

Some in the military
are nervous about an overdependence on China; all recall the
difficult history with that looming neighbor.

Maybe your inferiroty complex is making taking toll on your cognitive capbilities :D

As Nepal? :woot:

Last i checked the Nepalsese didn't give a crap on Chinese whining on Tibetian refugees

Nepal's commitment to protecting Tibetan
refugees remains firm, despite Chinese pressure to increase
security on the China-Nepal border. During the Home
Minister's recent visit to China, Chinese officials pressed
the Minister to improve border communication and create a new
bilateral coordination mechanism. Although Nepal has
promised to build new police border posts, constructing such
posts is logistically complicated and expensive. UNHCR does
not believe the Chinese pressure has fundamentally altered
Nepal's policy on Tibetan refugees, noting that the number of
refugees crossing into Nepal in recent months has increased,
not decreased, and that Nepal continues to honor the
"gentlemen's agreement" to facilitate the transit of Tibetan
refugees to India.

Nice wet-dreams,

first solve the border dispute with Bhutan

Then show some official agreement of Bhutan agreeing upon passage to PLA troops

Till then
