MULTAN: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed has said the judiciary is not afraid of anyone, it has no internal weaknesses and the Supreme Court of Pakistan would not spare those targeting the judiciary in the name of protocol.

He was addressing a seminar on Civil Rights and Duties of the State, organised by the Multan High Court Bar Association with MHCBA President Malik Haider Usman in the chair on Saturday. The CJP said the Supreme Court of Pakistan would decide the matter of protocol instead of ignoring it without taking notice. The SC is the most superior court of this country, which knows how to use powers and authority.

Earlier, Pakistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Abid Saqi criticised the government for accusing SC judges of taking extraordinary protocol.

The CJP quoting Abid Saqi said the SC would not spare those targeting the judiciary. He said people should not be afraid of working on civil rights as the doors of justice are open to everyone without any prejudice. The seminar topic is very important, which needs unabated debate and continuous struggle.

He said he has visited the Multan city and taken notice of a news item which highlighted the poor plight of the Multan Children Park. He said he visited the park, but the administration quickly took measures to improve the park condition before his visit. He hoped the park would be a model providing healthy environment to schoolchildren in the future.

He said he had meetings with Multan RPO Wasim Ahmed Khan, Commissioner Shanul Haq, Deputy Commissioner Amir Khattak and CPO Zubair Dreshak and discussed with them the law and order situation. They are all making efforts to improve the situation. However, the city lacks plantation and streetlights. The CJP took notice of cutting mango trees for establishing residential colonies. He asked the district administration to save mango trees.

Earlier, he visited the shrines of Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam and Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya. LHC Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid, Justice Umar Atta Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Qasim Khan, Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed, Supreme Court Bar Association President Syed Qalb-e-Hassan and Pakistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Abid Saqi also addressed the seminar.

Hi,

I don't know what world is pakistan's judiciary living in---but it looks like they living an illusion---.

They are corrupt and criminal to the core and yet act like they have been bestowed with sainthood---.

Haan bhai onko pakro jo haq sach ki awaaz otha rahay hain aur choron, looteron aur mawayshiyon ke liyay haftay itwaar ko bhi adalat lagao aur onko "relief" do. Mashallah

They ruined PIA's prospects of recovery and development by removing AVM Arshad Malik. Costing Pakistan tens if not hundreds of billions of dollers.

They also released psychotic khwariji mass murderers.

Fuvking trators in black. These judges and lawyers are anti Pakistan decoits and thugs.

Why don't you see in your own black sheeps, Such dual system in Court, special hearing for Rich & influenced people even on Sundays, while there is seperate system for poor people. Isn't this injustice. Why like this? And still no punishment for lawyers that attacked government hospital, they are roaring like lion.

Respectfully I would disagree with the Honourable CJ. I have lived through the entire period of Pakistan’s existence (Pakistan Painda bad) and can say with certainty that record of Pakistan’s judiciary at the highest level is ‘Chequered’ to say the least. I meant to say that starting with Justice Mohammed Munir's infamous ‘Doctrine of Necessity’, Judiciary has gone through periods of varied fortunes & discreditable incidents.

In my humble opinion, except for a few such as Justice AR Cornelius, Justice M R Kiyani, Justice Dorab Patel, Justice Fakhruddin G Ibrahim, Justice Hammudur Rahman and Justice Bhagwandas, nearly all Justices of the Supreme & High Courts were mediocre at best. Some such as Iftikhar Chaudhry & Saqib Nisaar acted more like unelected dictators than as Chief Justices of the Supreme Court.

Can you imagine that instead of interpreting the constitution, Chief Justice of the Apex Court starts inspecting hospitals and starts a fund to build a Dam?

CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry was probably the worst ever Chief Justice anywhere in the world. With hundreds of thousands of legal cases pending in the courts, the Honourable CJ takes upon himself to fix the retail price of sugar. As if that was not enough, in June 2011 Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry read in the newspaper that Mrs. Attiqa Odho; a TV host & film actress was found with 2 bottles of wine in her luggage at the Islamabad Airport but released without an FIR being filed; he took ‘Sue Motto’ action and ordered that an FIR should be filed against Ms. Odho! Evidently Justice Chaudhry considers the fixes the prices of sugar & ensuring the filing of FIR for the possession of 2 bottles of wine more important than dispensing justice on the pending legal cases with the Supreme Court.

Honorable CJ Gulzar Ahmad, we respect you and do not doubt your integrity, but humbly request you to kindly look at the past history of Pakistan Judiciary and do not try to defend the 'un-defendable'.
