What else would you call a confrontation... Judiciary is seeking implementation from the last 2 years and PM is refusing to comply since then.

On the 19th, the PM should walk to the jail for contempt.

Now, PM Yousaf Raza Gilani has to appear in supreme court at 19 January. It is said that Zardari can use Yousaf raza Gilani as a scapegoat. There is no intention of PPP to send letter to Swiss government. Hence it is highly considered that Khursheed Shah a new PM from PPP. No chance of Yousaf Gilanni other that to appear in court

.
Supreme Court should throw PM out and this will automatically end the cabinet to and this will mean end of government for not greater betterment of the nation the corrupt mafia needs to be taught lesson of life time so Pakistan can finally get rid off the corrupt leaders and move forward for better and prosperous Pakistan :pakistan:

The Supreme Court on Monday (today) initiated contempt proceedings against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, issued a show cause notice to him and summon him in person on January 19th.

The bench observed that the court have no other option except to initiate contempt proceedings against the Prime Minister.

An apex court bench chaired by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa on January 10 gave six options against the government for non-compliance in the NRO implementation case, including disqualification for Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari.

A seven-member bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Muhammad Ather Saeed heard the matter.

During the proceedings, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Fasih Bokhari tendered an unconditional apology to the court, on which the court said that a written apology should be submitted.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, Federal Law Minister Maula Bux Chandio said that he will inform the government about the court’s verdict and admitted that the contempt notice is not something to be taken lightly.

Earlier, the apex court resumed the proceedings of the National Reconciliation Ordianance (NRO) implementation case and ordered Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq to seek replies from the government.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa observed that the court’s orders were not being taken “seriously”.

AG informed the court that he had forwarded the court’s orders but a reply has not yet been received. Justice Nasirul Mulk replied that the court had ordered the AG to bring a reply, not just forward the orders.

All of this will lead to nothing. PPP is so stubborn that they are even ready to sacrifice their PM.
According to Hamid Mir; if SC disqualifies the PM, govt will bring another PM who will follow the same policy and drag all of this until the elections take place.

Furthermore, the Research & Motion company has denied to give any info related to Hussain Haqqani's Blackberry.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's top court on Monday found Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in contempt for not complying with orders related to re-opening corruption cases and summoned him to appear in person this week.

The move escalates the pressure on Pakistan's weakened civilian government, which faces separate court procedures that could unseat its leadership and force early elections at a time of soaring tensions with the powerful army.

"The Supreme Court has issued a contempt of court notice to the prime minister for not complying with its orders," Judge Nasir-ul-Mulk told the court which met to debate how to proceed on graft charges against the president.

"He has been directed to appear personally on January 19," the judge added.

The Supreme Court wants the government to write to Swiss authorities demanding that they re-open old corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari, which the government has so far refused to do so.

Zardari and the government led by his Pakistan People's Party (PPP) say he has immunity from prosecution as long as he remains in office.

The president is also under pressure from an investigation into who was behind efforts to solicit American help to prevent a coup apparently feared in the aftermath of Osama bin Laden's death and to clip the power of the army.

Zardari's close aide, Husain Haqqani, was forced to resign as ambassador to Washington over a secret memo written last May and the Supreme Court ordered an inquiry on December 30 following a demand from the country's chief spymaster.

IF PM goes the government will also go as cabinet is automatically dissolved Sir and they don't have the numbers to bring new PM

Chances are one of them will not be ready to go to jail and will write the letter to the Swiss government. Also remember, Memogate is breathing down their necks as well.

Well, they do have numbers as PML-Q, ANP, BNA will support the next PM (if any). MQM is still in doubt but I think they will support PPP's stand too because they have to save the bloody democracy...

Jail is what they want to become the siyasi shaheed... As far as memogate is concerned, I am seeing the dead end unless the army pressurizes the govt as the R&M has denied to provide any info related to Hussain Haqqani's Blackberry...
