SC dismisses plea to claim Azad Kashmir, Gilgit by RAW

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea by a former officer of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) to claim Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan territories.

A Bench led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi rejected outright the plea by R.K. Yadav to carve out 24 Assembly constituencies from Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan areas and conduct elections there.

“This PIL is ex-facie untenable. You come to the judiciary with such a prayer? There cannot be any judicial interference here. We cannot pass such orders,” the CJI said.

The court imposed a fine of ₹20,000 on the petitioner.

So still there are a few sane people in India at some responsible position. How idiot of that RAW guy to do a petition for a region that is not controlled by India in any form? This would have made Indian judiciary a laughing stock for the world.

The idiot is getting what he asked for - cheap publicity. Should have slapped him with a 100K fine for such random waste of court time, when we have a pile of pending cases in front of courts and a massive shortfall of judges.

Why it's waste of court time when Indian government claims AJK & GB as part of India, want everyone to show it as part of India in maps, have passed resolution to get it back but not doing anything to retrieve territory?

You think they are doing nothing for that? Why do you and we have such a big army otherwise mate - to avoid a mishap along those lines?

This whole J&K drama serves two purposes for Indian politicians (and Pakistan politicians alike) - 1) election plank 2) use that to do more defense purchases ( foreign trips n all and there was a corruption angle as well)...

For the long term, a) don't think war is anyways solution - either for status quo or for changing the status quo b) don't think war is needed anyways - your side talks about a thousand cuts and our side just goes about doing that without saying much about that. This is a war of attrition - so, don't think there will be horde of tanks etc kind of a think anymore.. both sides have enough paraphernalia to avoid other side from making a move.. but that doesn't mean that there is no try ;-)
