Saudi scientist discovers two new genes related to breast cancer

A Saudi scholarship student has achieved a new scientific landmark after he discovered two new genes that have close links with breast cancer.

Hani Chaudhry, a Ph.D. student sent by King Abdulaziz University to Oxford University, has been conducting his study for two years using next generation sequencing (NGS) techniques to decode and identify the genetics of cancer cells.

Saudi students reportedly studied the activity of genes in more than 120 cases of breast cancer at Oxford University Hospital.

Based on these studies, he discovered more than 72 genes that were not known before. Two were subject to exhaustive tests that will hopefully play a leading role in stopping the growth of cancer cells. The activity of the two genes was proven in more than 260 cases of breast cancer patients. This can be used as indicators for the early diagnosis of breast cancer.

Chaudhry is currently registering his scientific achievement at the Human Genome Organization (HUGO), whose reference will be made under the name of King Abdulaziz University (KAU).

HUGO is the international organization of scientists involved in human genetics.

It has increased its membership base to over 1,200 members, and played an essential role behind the scenes in the human genome project.

Meanwhile, senior researchers at Oxford University have appreciated Chaudhry’s achievement of this scientific landmark.

Dr. Hani Chaudry, isn't that a Pakistani name? The surname Chaudry doesn't even originate from KSA.

If he is of Pakistani origin, then it is scientist of Pakistani origin but a student in KSA.

Either way congratulations to him on his discovery.

Nope we have many many Saudis with Pakistani origins most of them came after Pakistan independence and settled in Makkah most of my cousins come from such families.

Which again stressing the point I have been trying to make for a long time KSA is not a country for Arabs but a country for all its citizens.

congratulations to Mr. Hani Chaudhry... any thing in interest of human health`ll be always appreciated..

Please stick to commenting on the genetic research conducted by this Scientist IN Saudi Arabia instead of HIS genetics.

Big problem in asian woman i know a few who got this illness before lets pray to God this can help save lives.
