I am watching the news as I write this. Obama is facing an uphill battle in congress and the resolution may fail in congress. The clueless public is mostly against it and as a result it is difficult to drum up support for the attack in congress. Obama may go it alone, or he may not, it looks like the attack is still up in the air, while Assad is getting more and more time to prepare and hide his assets:

Its silly to think that the FSA would launch an attack on themselves to blame Assad. Its even more sillier to think that FSA have their hands on such heavy weapons.

It's complicated. Neither the American people nor the majority of the congress would want to get involved in another military intervention. The US economy has just begun to recover slightly since 08, unemployment rates had dropped sharply by the end of the third quarter of this year. So in all and all, Obama may fail to get the initial approval from the Congress but still there is a glimpse of hope.

The Assad regime is plight to humanity and he must be stopped either by will or force.
