Saudi petrochem giant opens tech centre in Bangalore (India)

@KRAIT

You asking for permission, that's gold. :D

@Capt.Popeye

You can think whatever you want 'mein kepton'. I'm just pointing to the fact that Indians blame the Saudis for 'exporting terror and evil wahabism' into India and 'praising' their dollars coming into India with the 'same tounge'.

Its NOT 'outrageous' for me, its 'amusing' at best and 'distasteful' at worst that while Saudis are source of 'all evil' in India, their money is 'halal'. :D

From my perspective, its win win, saudi diplomatic muscle in India will be emboldened by its fiscal investments... We have no reason to complain here. I'd rather see a Muzzlim economic trojan horse in India than not. ;)

@Roybot

Pakistan is the most 'pro Saudi society alive'. That one didn't work....and yes we are talking India here.

Our ties with the Saudis are of a different order. Youre insulting reader's intelligence by comparing them to India.

Doesn't seem like it, not on PDF anyways. For every anti Saudi post made by an Indian on this forum I can show you ten made by Pakistanis. Unless you are suggesting that PDF is not a good representation of Pakistani society?

Saudi Funded Wahabi terrorism is Pakistan's second favourite bogeyman. For everything that is wrong in Pakistan, its always blame the Indians or Blame the Saudi Wahabi funded terrorism.

Again you toss up some absurdities. Apart from the typically Myopic Religious Coloration that unfortunately clouds your glasses. Really unfortunate.

Apart from that since when did money become Haram or Halal? Are there any religious pronouncements on that? If so; please enlighten us.

Your perspective (in the last sentence) is plainly skewed as is the metaphor that you used.
You should have said "Trojan Camel" instead.........:-)

But if all of those thoughts and expressions leave you satiated; then so be it.

Some Pakistanis like us and some Indians like us. Some Pakistanis hate us and some Indians like us. Both on this forum and in real life.

We are not part of the Saudi Arabian government or part of the decision making process. Or part of private companies. We are only private individuals that raise our opinions on an internet forum.

I as an Muslim and Arab will always have a special affinity to Pakistan and its people due to the historical ties and my impression of Pakistanis in real life.

For that reason I would prefer if our country (KSA) would not have ties with India that could damage those with Pakistan.

So I don't know what to say about this news.

At the same time ties between Arabia and India are 5000 years old and India has nearly 200 million Muslims. We have also 2.5 million Indians in total in KSA and most are good people and fellow Muslims.

Trade and cultural links between ancient India and Arabia date back to third millennium BC.[1]

@Aeronaut be rest assured that 99,9% of all Saudi Arabians will stand by with Pakistan and Pakistanis in any worst case scenario and if they do not you have the license to topple our regime. How about that?o_O

So the 'terrorist funding, fundamebtalist wahabi, oil barron, Muzzlim money' from 'lizard eating, throat cutting, backward Saudi Arabia' being injected into the 'world's largest democracy' the all perfect 'shining India' is now 'kosher'???

@Yzd Khalifa @al-hasni @JUBA @Mosamania

You evil, viagra consuming sand lickers must be 'honored' to have the 'next superpower' and the 'bastion of human equity' accept your 'investment'...ain't you. :D

oh boy, the things money makes these otherwise hibitual Saudi bashing Indians do...... Never mind.. :coffee:

u moron,they are investing money because they think the best ideas ll come from here,

oh how come they are not investing 625 million into the desi tamancha factory in bahawalpur then?

Its really not just saudi.... Almost everyone's looking at India for idea generation. We've come a long way from mere back office operations.

Welcome to the new era gentlemen.....and it smells like saffron-white-green.
In 2014, Target will set up a tech incubator in Bangalore. The Target Accelerator Program will invest up to $30,000 in one or two companies every year, likely in return for equity but more importantly for first dibs on new products the start-ups make. As Target’s Beth Jacob told TechCrunch, which first reported the story, ”Innovation is core to our culture and strategy and we are always looking for new ideas to enhance the shopping experience of our guests.”
+
Coca Cola, not a company known for its tech chops, is also setting up a team in Bangalore as well as other cities around the world. “We’re trying to create the next Twitter-like company,” Coke’s David Butler said in an interview with the New York Times.
+
Why is a sugared-drinks maker trying to create the next Twitter? The answer is simple: There is no such thing as a tech company any more. But the corollary to that is that every company is a tech company—or it better be if it wants to survive. Target, Coke and most other firms are looking to tech start-ups to help keep their core business—whether that is selling beverages or t-shirts—moving with the times.
+
But why do it in India? Well, why not? India has long been the world’s back office for mundane things such as call centers and data-entry. It now has a thriving start-up scene, with local firms that are competing with Amazon, creating locally relevant services, and even expanding abroad. Surely they can do the same thing under the aegis of a big corporate brand.
+
Think of it as the evolution of outsourcing. If Bangalore’s techies can make custom-built software to order for American companies, which is how companies like Infosys and Wipro made their name and fortune, there’s no reason they can’t also come up with new ideas to and test them out as well. The only difference is that outsourcing used to be limited to pre-assigned tasks. Now it’s the research and development itself that’s being shipped overseas, and all for what amounts to the price of a Toyota Camry.

I do know about that already. An Orgn. that I have an association with is involved with some of the ground-work that goes with this kind of stuff.
For example: Check out when TI from Dallas set up their research center in India!! They were one of the first off the blocks.
I have a neighbor back home in India who worked in the higher echelons of SABIC Research in KSA and was instrumental in first licensing some of SABIC's tech to PETCHEM industries in India and has some connection to this as well. Since he has just retired and relocated back to India; he is looking forward to new innings Mentoring some Research work there.

If you mean Texas Instruments. Oh yeah...

They are looking to dig in I think. I spoke to one their guys the other day and he told me how TI streamlines orders from India in a bid to gain more ground. They even send the free samples for students on time.
